| Apex Techie Lite | Greetings :-) Around autum, in 2-3 months time i would like to upgrade my Mobo and CPU. Only real requiremts for the Mobo is that i has to have a AGP slot and DDR slots. Currently i am using a AMD Athlon XP 2800+ and it would be nice to outperform that quite a bit. For the price range, i am looking at a maximum budget of around 400$. I know that PCI Express is the way to go, but i'm simply not willing to sacrifice my brand new Geforce 6800 :-/. Cheers | |

| Watsup bro' If your on a budget of $400, Id recommend the AV8 ATX Socket 939 Motherboard, for AMD Athlon 64 / Athlon 64 FX Processors. For the processor get the Athlon 64 3500+, 2.20 GHz, 1.6 GHz FSB. You could propably get the whole deal on ebay for less than $400. Lemme know if you need more help... -Psychotic_God | ||

Doesn't that have the VIA chipset? Rumor I've been hearing is that the VIA chipset will not support the new SATA2 drives coming out. Initally read it on newegg. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Yeah, I think your right.....anyways, heres the non-sli version of the board that im personally using, its on ebay, and its a good deal. Gigabyte Motherboard GA-K8NS Ultra-939 AMD Athlon64 nFo <----click For the processor, I still would recommend the Athlon 64 3500+, 2.20 GHz, 1.6 GHz FSB. This will give you a significant boost in performance while staying on a budget. Also, if youre planning to cool your cpu on air, I would recommend this Fan . Regular fans have blind spots, with this one, I wouldnt be surprised if you could overclock it. | ||

| Apex Techie Lite | First off, i don't live in the US, so the 400$ where just an estimate Although i live in Denmark, and the prices are almost the same. I don't want to buy any hardware off eBay as i don't like the risk.I am thinking of this motherboard. (although the text is in danish, the specs should be perfectly understandable) http://www.edbpriser.dk/Listprices.asp?ID=99767 And this CPU http://www.edbpriser.dk/Listprices.asp?ID=137618 | |

| The gigabyte board is compatible with SATA2. Its also delivers better performance. I personally used gigabyte in my own computer. By the way, Ive been using ebay for 3 years and never had problems, its very safe. I get all of my big parts from ebay.....all the ones I use to build my computers. Everybody also agrees that you should get the amd 3500+, its your decision how to get them.....lemme know if you need anything else...... | ||

| Do, whatever you want......but I used MSI for 2 year, and I think that its not that great. I use gigabyte now and its much superior performance compared to the MSI boards I used. You can also get the Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra 939 Motherboard and the AMD3500+ for under $400. | ||
