| I making up a new rig. This is the decision Im pressed with.. #1 ASUS A8N-E $152.00(I assume it can overclock not bad) Built By ATI x800XL $349.99 Athlon 64 3200+ (venice core) $244 Total // $750 OR #2 Foxconn nForce4 SLI Motherboard $175(cant overclock) MSI 6600GT $230 Athlon 64 3200+ (venice core) $244 Total // $650 If I got the SLi setup I would plan to get another 6600GT in the future, problem is. The Foxconn motherboard can't overclock. But on the flipside of that, my RAM really sucks so even if I had a better motherboard for overclocking, I wouldnt be able to go very far at all anyways. Its Samsung Pc3200 Tccc I think Those are canadian prices, suggestions and comments welcomed! | ||

Well I have several posts around here and other forums regarding nothing but problems with asus boards. Not to mention the fact that everytime Ive had to return an asus board(to asus) It has been nothing but a RMA nightmare. Yes that is my experience...Im not post whoring...Im giving my opinion. If he is looking to overclock, sure it may overclock fairly well. However for that price, Id get an Abit AN8-sli. Better support, better overclocks and sli. edit: oh yeah its $20 cheaper

My goal is 2.4GHz, would it be just as easy to get the 1.8GHz 3000+ there as the 2GHz clocked 3200+? If so I will get the 3000+ and a A8N-Deluxe, I just want a nice 2.4Ghz overclock.

| The DFI LanParty NF4 SLI is about $300, I can get the A8N-Deluxe for $200. Better overclocker or not, I dont need all the extra CRAP that lanparty board comes with, and I wont pay an extra $100 for it if Im not going to use it. I have looked at 10 reviews for the A8N and there really hasnt been a bad thing said about it. If Solid can give me more info on what to expect for an overclock with the 2 processors then I can get to choosing. I want the SLi, but its not important. Im replacing my 2400+, 6600GT and NF7-S. I want something that rox my sox. ![]() Current leftover parts are: Coolermaster WaveMaster Case 450Watt OCZ ModStream Powersuply 3x160 SATA Deskstar Harddrives 1x36Raptor So the other stuff is up to snuff, just need to get my other crap together! Im excited! Last edited by TYCOON; 05-August-05 at 06:49 PM.. | ||

| I'd definitely go with number one. Have used Asus and have no complaints. Got a very stable overclock from my XP 2100+, even though it was only a minor overclock. I've heard nothing but good things about the x800xl, planning on buying one myself for my next rig (if I can ever afford it). There's one thing to be a smart shopper and get cheap prices, but with computers you definitely get what you pay for! | ||
