Question A8N-SLI and Zalman 7700 ALCu

Hey all,

Will this Cpu cooler fit this motherboard? Based on eyeballing things in the store it looks like it will fit, it seems no one knows for sure though, store clerks, zalman reps..etc..

I understand that the all copper version of the heatsink weighs more, but how much better at cooling is it? I will be using a FX-57 and crucial ballistix memeory.

Any help?

Thad

The cooler will fit the A8N fine - this is the combo I have.

IMO, this is the best fan-based cooler for the Athlon 64s - that's why I got it.

My SWAG would be that copper makes a difference of 3-5 degrees over aluminum. Depending on who you are, that's either not much for $10, or not bad for $10. To me, the extra bit of cash for copper is well worth it, especially if it helps squeeze out a couple extra MHz.

BTW, that was about the measured difference between the copper and aluminum Thermalright XP-90's. Granted there are major differences between the Thermalright and the Zalman (heatpipes, fan integration, fin orientation) but I'll stick by my guess.

you cant go wrong with these heatsinks. Im running the cnps7700 copper on the same board with a a64-3000 oc'd to 2251Mhz. loaded temps around 36-38c, idles at 30-31c,its a sweet heatsink . I couldnt ask for any better on air.
