| I just recently purchased a DFI Lanparty nf4 D-Ultra. It was running fine until the powersupply blew, i replaced it with a Neo Power....btw dont buy enermax. Everything worked cherry after that, no problems whatsoever, but than as i remembered that some people had said that the bios was a little quirky when they tried to overclock, and a BIOS flash of the latest updated one had fixed the issue. So before i even attempted to overclock i descided to update my bios and have a go at it. I used nTune (the provided software with the board) and used the most rescent update found here http://http://www.dfi.com.tw/Support...FLAG=A&SITE=NA . Ever since than its never booted for me, it gets past the post screen and goes right to the point where windows should start booting and automaticalle restarts. Please help with any ideas! On a side note i might have downloaded and updated with the nf3 bios but i cant remember, but iam pretty sure that i used the one i posted. PLEASE HELP! | ||

Did you try and hit "F8" while it's booting to see if you can go into SAFE MODE? You might have to do a reinstall of Windows...... Check to make sure your HD's are plugged in correctly.......

| Alright, new results~~ I can get to the windows screwed up screen where it tells you that you can boot normally or in safe mode, and whatever i choose it still just restarts on me directly after i choose. I have a strong feeling that this is either a bad bios flash or i very well could have flashed the wrong bios, regardless i can still run memtest86 so its definately not a hardware issue, as in no matter what i cant do anything demanding with the pc cause memtest ran fine. Is there any way that i can load up a new bios without going into windows, i.e. load up a bios to a cd and boot it from that? When i downloaded the last one it came with autoexec.bat for some reason. Please HELP!??! | ||

Usually, you can do that from a floppy...........just make sure what you put on that floppy is bootable.....

| I've seen something like this before. You may well need to go into your bios and go through all the options with a fine toothcomb. Like insomnia said about the power options but expand the check to everything, silly stuff like legacy usb devices etc can cause problems. | ||

| I have used WINFLASH, and it has been extremely reliable. One thing you MUST do when flashing a new Bios, is to reset the CMOS, its a little jumper next to the battery usually, check the manual if you don't see it. (Winflash will do this for you if you check the box, then you don't have to do it manually!) Turn the power off, move it over to the other position for 30seconds, and then put it back and boot up ![]() | ||

| to be honest with you, i would simply try doing a windows repair, the problem you are having sounds eerily familiary to trying to use a windows install on a system with hardware different than when windows was originally installed, flashing a bios might have changed a handfull of critical components functionality jussst enough to cause windows to flip out, especially if the hard drives in question are SATA... run a windows repair, and ill bet you everything will pan out just fine...or better yet, just do a clean format and install and eliminate that possibility alltogether... do this before screwing any more with your BIOS, matter of fact, i recommend just going into your bios (if you can) and using the most default settings available when you do the said repair / format...if they dont work, it wont have cost you anything monetary, and is a much safer "first step" than messing with an already questionable hardware configuration that may or may not take much more tweaking before not working at all (if the problem isnt fixed with said reformat / repair, then you can be sure something is fuxored)... | I tried re-formatting last night, but it didnt last long. It rebooted automatically on me before i even got to the terms of agreement. Im gonna go buy a floppy drive today and reflash the bios the old school way. Hopefully this works or im just gonna end up RMA'ing it and hiding my f*ck up. | ||

| Lord help me! I finally got it fixed....the problem anyways. Needless to say my mobo does not like the updated bios at all. I have officially returned from bios flashing hell, and im not talkin flashin through windows namby pamby sh!t, im talkin floppy baby. I actually had to go buy a floppy and learn through google (always my friend) how to make a boot disk, how to flash throught that. Anyways im goin crazy and one day i might write a how to guide on this nightmare but for right now i wanna forget it even happened. BTW thanks for the help, and all the suggestions, this community kept me truckin along with this gripe. I couldnt very well take it to Frys and swap it with a new one........I had to know. | ||
