| Ok here is the story and I am really on edge at the moment about to snap. I had a Abit NF7-S2 i RMAed becuase it was not booting most the time and when it did it would never take commands from the mouse or keyboard. Got a NF-7 in return because i took that other mobo back twice. I am trying to get the NF-& to go now and no luck as of yet. Two different CPUs ,Two different HDDs, two different GPUs, two different types of ram (OCZ gold edition and Giel 3200) two different types of coolers one being air the other water. OCZ Power stream 520 watt BFG 5900 xt oc and some old stocker that came from a dell. One generic keyboard and one logitech (its usb) everytime the things goes to the windows load up screen , BAM , BSOD....then starts all over again. All hardware is good everything ran fine on a old Soyo Dragon. WTF is going on here? I find it hard to believe that i am victom to 3 POS abit boards, I might not have good luck but this goes way beyond the odds. other things i have tried: bootin with only the Harddrive its a no go. Try to reinstall , again press any key to boot from cd, doesnt take either keyboard. cleared the cmos more times than i can count. new cables, different power cables and different ram. Geezus someone has to have a idea here on whats going on, I am coming close to telling Abit i never will buy from theim again and i want my money back. | ||

You cant boot a previous windows install on a new mobo without doing a registry hack. Boot the HDD in the old board do the hack and then try it in the abit. You have a similar issue on the DFI dont you? It maybe your HDD or your HDD cable or where the jumpers are. http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread.php?t=3892 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Man o man does this sound like what happened to me. I had the same symptoms. I had to flash the firmware a couple of times and it still would not load XP or install it. If you have another NF-7 then I suggest you throw a hard drive in it, use the cpu you plan on using, same ram, ect. and install on the other board. After installing put the hard drive back and it shouldnt know the difference. I think J-dogg had the same problem. Im not sure why but some NF-7's do not like to intall OS's. Or I could be wrong and the cap'n could be right. | ||

| yes necro i did clear the cmos i am trying again today before i go to work. this time the battery is even yanked out. As fot the p4 connector that is allso connected. I talked to zeros last night and his suggestion was to change the jumper on the usbpwr1 connector because of a issue he had like this, still a no go. I might also add now i am trying to even get to the bios screen i could get to before and now it does nothing. I get power but that is all. it sits there for 5 minutes before i turn it off ,still no boot or bios screen. If i change everything over to the Soyo dragon it all works well. | ||

| the issue with your mouse and keyboard not working.... try turning on usb legacy. as for your bsod.... as mentioned earlier you cant change hardware on windows with out deleting the hardware registrykeys... i would try a fresh install.... and if u just want to test your hardware... download linux... knoppix http://www.knoppix.org/ this will alow you to do a live boot.. meaning it will load linux into your memory and not your harddrive ( it wont kill yer windows install) as for it locking up .. check the temp of the processor... earlier bios versions of nf-7 had overheating issues | ||
