Default BIOS beep on boot ABIT VA-10

I have just flashed my Abit VA-10 tot the latest bios and it now has an ugly beep when the machine starts up. It sounds terrible and is so loud!. I don't have an internet PC speaker. Any ideas how to disable this?

thanks

If you are on Win XP, open your system sound properties (right click speaker icon in SysTray) and go to the Options menu item and click on Properties. This should bring up a list of items with check boxes to the left. Make shure the "PC Speaker" one is checked and then click OK. Now the PC speaker control will show up and you can turn the volume down or mute it altogether.

Check your BIOS temps. I had a BE6-II that did the same thing. It thought the die of my PII 450 was 193*C.

Nope temps are fine. Its a beep because it passes the VGA test. I just dont want to hear it!

How about not turning your speakers on until after Windows starts up then?

I build with that board! Try getting a speaker cable, wind the + and - together and connet it up to the IO front connection for the system speaker. Theres not a lot else you can do - system speaker settings havent really been in BIOS's apart from Dells.
