Default CPU stuck to water block?!?

I was taking my TDX block off today and when I was pulling it off it wouldn't come off. So i gave it a little tug with no luck. Then I took my Xacto knife (razor blade, hobby knife, etc..) and tried to pry it off and I thought I got it started well I gave it another tug and the cpu pulled out of the socket still stuck to the block. and the chip was clamped in there.

I am using Artic Silver 5 and I know how to apply it. But after the cpu popped out I played with it for a while and after try to get in there with my Xacto knife it still won't come off and I can only get the knife in about 1/8 of an inch, before it sticks.

I'm wondering if some how this AS5 might be Artic Adhesive of something else and how the heck to I get the block of the CPU? I'm up for any suggestions guys?

What a weird freakin problem....

EDIT:

As you can tell there is nothing wrong with the pins either so it should hopefully still work fine.

To me it would seem that the wrong stuff was put into the tube.. I'd talk to the company that makes it and try to get reimbursed for that stuff...

getting it off is gonna be hard, some reccommend puttting it into the freezer and then trying to pry.

Heat ? doesnt heat usualy make glue unstick ?, when u took it off, had your computer been off for a while ?, if so then mabie u could smack her back in somehow run her hot and try to take it off then, or put it under a heat source and then try to pry it off.

He is right....Freeze...NO MOISTURE....
then pry of gently with a large flat razor blade....
That adhesive does break seal pretty well when done correctly....

This is nothing new. Try taking the corners of your cpu and gently twisting them while holding your w/b with your other hand. AS5 has been known to take cpus outa their sockets stuck to the hsf.

Ok I tried the razor again (last time i tried was this morning) and still no luck and alcohol didn't do it either. It's freezing right now. I'll let you guys know how that goes.

EDIT:
I tried twisting it already and it won't budge.

I have had them stick before but this thing is stuck. Normaly if I have trouble getting it off I will twist the block off the chip when it's in the socket. But this thing isn't moving at all.

Well after freezin it . Could get the razor in a little farther and scratch out the thermal paste slowly til only 25% was left then I broke the seal by twisting. After it warmed up to room temp it feels like a hard plastic, unlike normal AS5 which will still be a goop. Thanks for the advice on freezing.

I doubt that. AS does that to me everytime. One time it was on so good when I twisted it hard to get it off the block I slipped and ran my tub with full force over abot 40 pins.

Need less to say, I spent the next 4 hours with a mechanical pencil. Somehow, I got it to work again.

I have been suggesting Artic Creamaque ALOT more than AS5 now.
