| Alright... Im having some major problems with my audio. I have a gigabyte ATX motherboard with built in audio. I reciently put the mobo into a new case, and when I turned it on, there was no audio. I'm not really sure what to do, or what went wrong. I BELEIVE everything is hooked up right, and there doesn't seem to be any wires touching the mobo anywhere besides at the connectors. If anyone knows what the problem might be it would really help me out a lot. | ||

| OK, before I say anything else... I would like to mention the fact that I know about as little as there is to know about what I am saying. So if you are trying to explain something, please do so as if you were talking to a 5 year old. (Thanks) OK, so where do I go to check if my onboard audio is enabled? System Bios? What do I look for? Anything else I could try? | ||

| This is how to check the status of your hardware..... 1. Right-click on "My Computer". 2. Scroll down to "Properties and left-click. 3. Go to the "Hardware" tab and left-click. 4. Left-click on "Device Manager" button. 5. Scroll down until you see "Sound, Game and video controlers". 6. Left-click on the "+" next to it. You should see a sub-menu. 7. If you have a "?" or a "!", highlight the item, right click and scroll down to "Properties" and left-click. This will tell you whether there is a problem or not. | ||

| It's not the software then most likely, my bet is on the Bios not being set properly. As the PC is booting up, hit the "Delete" key...this will give you acces to the Bios (And Overclocking settings, if you decide to try that one day) It is up to you to read the manual and find the audio settings, I am not familiar with your board, sorry. | ||

| Check if that sound is muted and turned up all the way in windows, get a pair of headphones you know for sure work, plug them into the green jack. Start->All Programs->Accessories->Entertainment->Volume control Make sure all the sliders are up(Master Volume, Wave), and your microphone is the only thing thats is muted. | ||

| Apex Techie Lite | I know this is a little late and a shot in the dark but are you using the rear panel audio or did your old case have front panel audio connectors? I ask cos the mobo front panel connectors may need to be jumpered if you're not using them. So if your old case used to have front audio but new case does not look into this. Jumper may even have fallen off during swap? Check 'front audio connector' in mobo manual or something similar... | |
