2800 Sempron versus 2500 athlon

i have this 2800 Sepron in my hands and a 2500 in my comp right now. I got the 280 for free from a friend and i'm not even sure if it will be any good anybody use seprons i'm not sure how they compare to athlons. Plz any feedback would help.

ok so they are close to specs of the athlon counter parts? i'm not sure if i read that article right. feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

yes they are basically TBred cores under a different name. If your not good at overclocking, then the 2800 will give a boost in sepped...BUT will sacrifice your cache. The semprons only have 256K cache...the 3000 and onwards use the 512K that the barton athlons used.

To my knowledge the 2800+Athlon.. will smoke a 2500+sempron...

Run benchmarks..then you can tell us...

the 2800 is a sempron. And where's those receipts for the Athlon chip?!?!?!

Due to the smaller cache in the Sempr0n, the Athlon will easily out perform it. Though not the main focus in this article, the benchmarks do include the Athlon XP 2500+ and Sempron 2800+. In some benchmarks, the 2500+ is only 3 points higher than the 2800+, but higher none the less.

i would sell the sempron, get better coolin for the 2500 and overclock her

if you're paying your own electricity bill (or otherwise not included in your rent/cost-of-living allowance), I'd stick with the Sempron. If not; overclock the Athlon 2500 away. Of course; else; spend an additon $200-300 and build yourself (yet) another system and run F@H on it.

Damn that aritcle said 256 mb l2 cache me wanty. LOL
