Default OverLoaded Emachine!

today i was burnin some home camera footage onto svcd's. i was using nero to encode and burn 2 different cd's at a time. well i just dont think my little trash can treasure could handle it! when both of the cd's were at like 98% encoded, everything froze up. noticed the thinking light on the front panel was lit up solid (not blinking). i figured it was just overloaded a little and would come back to me? well it didnt and after about 10mins. i decided to turn it off. let it sit for bout 20 mins, then turned it back on. when coming back on i noticed the beginning windows loading screen was all phuxxed up and flickering n stuff. but it loaded up and everything came to like normal. when windows came up it said it was missing a ???.dll file and i clicked OK. now it seems to be working fine in windows, but when i reboot, the beginning windows loading screen is still messed up.

will she be alright or should i reformat H.D. and load OS again? lol... i know its just a emachine.. but she's been good to me! lol

pc specs:

Hrmm...the PC froze and whatnot, and you did a hard reboot. Try running scandisk/checkdisk on her and see if that helps a little bit.

If it comes down to it, you could always take your own advice and reload or just repair the OS.

Or, how about just doing a System Restore back to a previous point?

Off Topic: I don't have the model number with me, but my former brother-in-law gave me his older EMachine for free for my birthday. Not a bad deal; just sucks that it's a 2.0 Celeron.

Not a problem. Be sure to check when the last system restore point was.

It'd be a lot more helpful if you knew what the missing DLL file was. Does it happen everytime you load Windows?
