Default Fellow PIMPS.....I NEED YOUR HELP ASAP!!!

I just got an ASUS P4P800SE back from the rma department. They replaced the board but I am still having the same problem as I did before the rma.
Background info:
The board was originally sent back because there was now video, and the video card was tested in other computers. I bought an Abit board for temporary use, everything worked there.
Now the board is back and once again no video. I put the pc back together about 15 mins ago. When I push the power button the monitor turned on and then immediatly(sp) turned off. I turned it off then tried it again, but nothing happened(monitor didn't even turn on). I tried reseating everything and again the monitor turned on for a split second and turned off again.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried putting a different video card in your mobo? can you post the specs?

Try using a PCI (yes PCI not PCIe) card and boot up, I think that you need to check the bios.

The specs are:
2.8 P4 800fsb
XFX GeForce FX5200
Kingston 512mb
Raidmax PSU, tried a Enermax in there

One big problem is that I don't have a PCI video card on hand right now or know anybody that does have one. I will try putting my 5900 in there to see if it makes a difference.

Sorry for the double post......
I just tried swapping out video cards and ram. No luck with either.

Anymore suggestions?

Try clearing the bios (normally by jumper) and then see what happens.

It sounds like you have the CPU fan plugged into the wrong power header to me. You said you tried your card in another machine and it worked. Try a card from another machine in yours and see if it works.

The cards have been swapped, ram has been swapped, bios has been cleared, the fan is plugged into the right header, and now I have no idea what to do. So far it does not post, and there is no beeping at all. The people at asus told me to take the board out of the case and try it like that, I'll try that tommorow. Any other suggestions are great.

Try unhooking/unplugging everything thing one part at a time. I'd start with the memory, cards, drives, usb cables and so on. If all else fails then the mobo maybe grounding out. Take it out and check your standoffs. It sounds like you've tried everything but just missed something. Wish I was more help.

Got Juice??? I don't have experience with your specific setup, but I cant get an Nforce2 mobo+ Radeon 9200 to boot without atleast a 400w power supply with 20 amps or more on the 12v rail. Also, I have several Asus Nforce 2 boards, and a 9200 wont work with it. swapped in a GeForce 3 and it worked, then bought a 9250 for $38 and its does everything I need it to do. Dunno why the one card BSOD's on one mobo, runs fine on the rest . . . .

I'm gonna try amazing you with my technical lingo now. Have you got that 4 pin connector thingy from the psu also plugged into the mobo.

I had problems similar to yours with my abit av8 and it turned out to me being stupid and not plugging that in.

Also I reccomend setting up the bare basics of any pc out of the case first. Just saves yourself the hassle of brining things out when you can't get things working. It's perfectly safe, just keep sensible about it.

hope that helps, and keep us updated.

After all that it deffinately sounds like a processor or powersupply issue. You might want to use a voltmeter to check what your powersupply is doing when you turn it on, and if your skilled enough you could check the voltage supplied to the board on the 12volt input in order to figure out if the correct voltage is being supplied. You could pry it open and adjust the pots, but it is not something i recommend for those who haven't taken basic electricity safety training.

As for the processor you can do little other then throw it into a working computer to see if it is busted...but i haven't had much experience with bad processors*

*(still deffinatley a good possability if you took it out of your old computer to make this new one with the abit board)

Right now I only have the bare minimun running, no cards except VGA. No drives are plugged into the mobo. I have tried 2 different power supplies. My other setup has a P4P800(non SE) and all the parts were tested in there and worked fine. Ill try taking the mobo out of the case and putting on a box to see if it is grounding out.

The cpu is fine, was tested in my other system. I just tried to see if it was grounding but its not, I tried it out of the case and same thing. So ther only thing left to do is RMA the mobo again. Two boards in one month is just horrible.

If everything testes out OK except the mobo, I'd be looking for a new mobo with a quickness if I were you. Asus usually is rock solid, but I have had a prob with an AGP slot before and frankly have no brand loyalty. if it works n clocks, thats all that matters.

that is ridiculous....

and he already stated he tried a diff psu, regardless of its size it was an Enermax, and it should have at least powered the system long enough to pass the self test....

Get a real motherboard, although I have heard better things about their Intel boards.

I personally would go with a DFI solution.

Personally for my next build I'm thinking of going to the AMD side. But that will be next spring/summer. Until then I just won't put any money into the system except hard drives or anything that can be used in the next system.
