| Ok i got my a7n8x up and running, everything is good, games run great, 3dmark scores are up........but i have this feeling something is not set correctly.....i was lookin over my bios and came across a setting called....memory frequency, i thought that this setting is the speed your memory is supposed to run at rite....its set to [spd] which set it allows the mobo to detect the speed automatically......now rite below that there is another field that says....Resulting frequency.....it says 166mhz......i have pc2700 ddr ram......shouldnt that be 333mhz? or does it work like the cpu fsb where its 2x's whatever it says there?........ive messed with the memory frequency speed setting, not actually saved and rebooted, but even if i bump the setting all the way to 200% it wont get to 333mhz......hoever tho i know in that computer funky way of math, 166 x 2 is 333 and another thing is i was reading someplace that setting my memory settings to agressive will help speed things up.......you all know im not a real big overclocker, and i know setting it to aggresive if kinda overclocking.......but if i was to set it to aggressive, would i really be risking anything? or is that setting kinda the overclocking for dummies setting the manufacturere puts in to let us overclock without getting to the point where we'd fry something? | ||

| Yes, 166 is 333. Aggressive memory timings usually deals with the latency, lowering the latency can make a board unstable or unbootable. It depends on the type of ram you have. Select Fast settings in the bios and run it at SPD and you should be fine. As you pick up more info, you can try other settings. | ||

| Well what chip is it? 133 bus or 166 bus? If it is a 133 bus athlon set it to agressive, because your memory will run at 133 so you have a 33mghtz overhead. But if your chip is a 166 bus use optimal settings. And also set your memory to auto instead of SPD. If you dont have auto then get the 1002 bios. | ||
