| After the original system died, I thought I'd upgrade the computer by switching to a faster processor and a motherboard that supports dual channel memory. However, the system won't boot, sometimes it won't even post. I've managed to run through seven motherboards, each always with the same problems. One thing I noticed is that all the boards have a rev 1012 bios and ultimately wind up generating the same error message when the computer is powered up, suggesting Asus had issues with flashing the bios onto the EEPROM on the board. Has anybody else been having such issues with the A7N8X-E Deluxe boards? | ||

| DUDE! If I went through 7 motherboards of the same type and they all gave me the same error...I would say it's NOT the motherboard!!!! Especialy ASUS, they are some of the most reliable boards you will find..if it was ECS, Soyo or PC Chips I would believe it. Most likely you are missing something..Is your power supply modern and have at least 300 watts...and not a cheap 10$ generic one? Do you plug in the the extra motherboard power cable? (4 Pin P-4 connector) I would bet money it is one of these two things... ![]() | ||

| All the components I've been using besides the motherboard have tested good. The power supply is a Sparklepower 500W active PFC redundant power supply, about as reliable and stable as they come. Only the first board would post, however immediately following post, the screen would go white and nothing would happen. All the remaining boards reported a corrupted bios of some form or another, either with the message "bios checksum error" or various other similar messages. I've now even tested all the components in a friend's system that is identical excepting the bios revision (and presumably the date of manufacture) and the system booted and ran without a hitch for an hour (following which we powered it down). Has anybody else purchased an A7N8X-E Deluxe board that came with the bios rev 1012? Is it just my luck to get every defective Asus board that was shipped to the state of California? *edit* Asus customer service is having me RMA the most recent board. | ||
