| Just wanted to drop a note to thank you guys for the motherboard rec's I recieved last week. I went to a local comp show this past weekend and picked up a Chaintech 7VJL mobo ( http://www.chaintech.com.tw/eng/prod...VJL-Deluxe.asp ) a 1800XP processor and a stick of RAM to go with (samsung 256). total wallet hit was about $225. I was looking for an Nvidia chipset board but the only one I found (ASUS) was a bit out of budget. Also, teh Chaintec does come with a bunch of extras. the rounded cables seem to be better qualtiy then the normal compshow stuff and the front panel that is included is a great addition. spent the evening last night ripping out my old mobo and installing teh new. On first powerup it wouldn't boot to XP (no supprise), too many hardware changes for it to handle. I had to do a reinstall of te O/S and call M$oft to re-activate teh serial number (5 minute process on a toll free call). I haven't played with the OC software that's included yet, I'll get everything stable and then play around a little. When I get a chance I'll see if I can post some numbers. I also need to cleanup some cabling and then I'll see about some gallery pics (it's in a purple plastic com-tech case thats about 4 years old) thanks again! Zed10_Rider | ||

| I'll tell you what. I've been playing and fixing with computers for 6 years now. And I've had alot more success with Epox than any other boards out there. I love the boot timer, and they are always at the top of the pack in overclocking plus they are at the middle of the pricing scale, way below Asus or Abit and provide as much or more performance. | ||

| Sounds great man Send us some pics soon... But fyi and everyone elses.. There is a Registry key you can delete prior to shutting down before a hardware change that will delete your hardware profile and you will be able to just let XP detect yournew hardware setup and work properly... I will have to find it again as my desk is cluttered and I have it wrote down... I will post if someone will remind me.. Thanks.. Cant wait to see your new rig man ![]() Last edited by Twizted; 05-February-03 at 01:48 PM.. | ||
