What features are you looking for, SATA, RAID etc.....

Stick to the big names, then go buy budget and features.

Well here are some boards.

Asus P4P800
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...131-504&depa=0

Asus P4C800
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...131-464&depa=0

Abit IS7
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...127-155&depa=0

Abit IC7-G
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...127-152&depa=0

All good boards, the first asus/abit are budget minded the other two are enthusiast minded. I would highly recommend the p4c800.

wait wait hold on. is this socket 478 or lga775? E refers to the prescott core, which by my understanding comes in both forms. if its an lga775 none of the mobos recommended by teh_spazz will work. correct me if im wrong here pimps, ive been kinda out of the game for a while, but u need to make sure u get the right socket

Ya prescott/E p4 chips come in both socket 775 and 478. But a 3.4e 478 chip is hard to come by. Most are LGA775. I would go with one of the newer ASUS 775 boards.

Well, in that case, since my friend and I have done our homework on both sockets.

Abit AS8
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...127-183&depa=0

Gigabyte 8I915G Pro
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...128-251&depa=0

I did not pull these out of my ass, I have done my homework on these sockets, and I can give more recommendations if needed.

Also ... how about a shuttle?

ABIT makes really good boards, and always have. But if you are going to overclock i would go with a new ASUS 925X chipset. You can adjust multipliers and I have heard some people getting nasty overclocks ouit of em. If your going 478 get an ABIT IC7 series board or a ASUS P4C800-E

well, LGA775 requiers DDR2 memory (on some boards) and a PCI-E video card.

but I've heard the onboard sound, Azelia, is AWESOME

In short I reccomend lga775 because s478 is being phased out.

here are some mobos with options for all types of vid cards & ram

DFI Lanpart 875-T
its the 875 chipset for LGA775, meaning regular old DDR ram and AGP graphics but you have lga775 CPU's
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...136-148&depa=1

Abit AG8
uses the 915 chipset, PCI-E video, DDR ram and Intel HD audio (I think)
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...127-182&depa=1

Abit AA8
uses 925 chipset, PCI-E video, DDR2 ram again, I belive it has HD audio
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...127-180&depa=1

Abit Fatal1ty AA8XE
uses 925XE, PCi-E video, DDR2 ram, DEFINATLY HD audio and support for 1066fsb intel CPU's
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...127-189&depa=1

Asus equivalents (Asus and Abit seem more or less equal for lga775)
915
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...131-503&depa=1
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...131-507&depa=1
925XE

If that's the case, then definitely go with the DFI LanParty 778 board. It's right in your budget too.

Personally, I've got the AA8 with DDR2,,,it rocks, but there's not much of a performance increase (at this point) over good ole overclocked DDR.
