Default LOTS of MAJOR problems with ASUS. Calling ALL pimps!!

Ok. Here's my system specs first off:
420W PS (cheap one, so my be less)
Asus nForce2 MB
2700+ XP
2x256mb Corsair 3500
RAID card with 2 HD
geForce3
CD-ROM and 3.5 floppy
!! I've cut the ATX power connecter from PS and cut portion out to shorten it up, then I soldered them all back together and used shrink rap.

And here's what I've done so far:
I've modded the start switch to a switch when pressed up connects the 2 wires for power, and the same setup for reset. I've got 6 80MM fans, and 1 120mm blowhole and volcano 7+.
I turned on the power supply, and my lights on baybus flicker for about 15 seconds until it turns on. I didn't have anything plugged in back, I just wanted to see if buttons worked. I hit the reset and it reset fine, then when it came to turning it off, it would turn off then imediatly turn back on, there for not being able to turn it off. So I plugged monitor, keyboard, etc. back in and turned it back on and went into BIOS. I changed the option:
PWR button < 4 Secs [Soft-Off]]
to:
PWR button < 4 Secs [Suspend]
Then I restarted. I hit the power switch a few times to see if it would eventually shut off, but it kept imediatly turning back on. So I turned it back off, thought about it, then turned it back on to see if I could try something else. When I turned it on I had no POST, the monitor didn't turn on and there were high pitched consecutive beeps coming from the motherboard. The beeps kept beeping until I unplugged power. Once I plugged it back in and started it again (after 15sec wait) it did the same thing. So I figured I would reset the BIOS. So I read the manual and did exactly what it told me to do. Unplugged power, remove battery, move jumper, move back jumper, replace battery, plug power in, boot up. The when I did it evedently ERASED my BIOS!! When I turned it on, it would show my video card bios thingy, then blank screen and in the middle it sayed:
"Perpare to Resume from DISK, Please wait...."
Then it would go to my RAID loading screen. Then it goes to the boot from CD-ROM. Whew, now another story. I had the comp running before I put in the case for my LAN party (needed a comp and it wasn't completely done at the time). I couldn't boot from the RAID card because MB wasn't seeing it as bootable. But I COULD boot into windows if I booted from the Windows CD. So that was how I was getting into windows. I called the RAID card tech support to see if they could help me and they said it was MB's fault, so I was going to call them but decided to wait until everything was together first (which is now) then this happened. So after it says Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM, it says some other stuff then just sat there. So I restarted the comp and it was on for about 3 sec and it turned off. So I hit the power switch again and it turned on for about 2 sec then turned off. And I did it a couple more times and it did the same thing. Now I just went over there and tried it again and it turned on and stayed on this time. I stuck in the WinCD and it went to blank screen after boot from atapi CDROM. So I hit reset switch, and this time it turned on for 3 sec then it RESTARTED itself. and it kept doing that this time. So I turned it off and came here.

TELL ME WHAT I DID WRONG, WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT, AND HOW SHOULD I FIX IT!! I need my BIOS back! And do power switched and reset switched get activated when cables connect to each other? And was it a mistake to modify the ATX power cable?!?!

Please help me!

EDIT: I also had the PS only running to test all my fans, and it had all my fans running perfectly, and it also turned on as soon as I hit the power button in the back!

I recall something like this before... it had to do with the switch being not your normal always on if set to on switch.. lemme dig it up for ya and I'll see if it'll help you (unless anyone has it on hand or off the top of their head. )

EDIT: lol, looks like carbon did have it on the top of his head and beat me typing.

it sounds like more than one problem here this is my guess to your on/off problems.

First Potential Problem: the power on is only supposed to make contact for a moment not be constant contacting.

OK, since I want people to know what kind of switched I'm dealing with, and I've got time just sitting here waiting for people to post, here's a pic:

results:
it turned on the 3 seconds later turned off. i turned it back on like normal and it was the bios set up screen.
get out your multimeter and set it to continuity mode and test your switches.

So why can you hold down power button to turn off, then when it turns off you can still be holding down power button and it wont turn back on?

What would I be testing my switches for? I know they both work.

I JUSTED TURNED IT BACK ON AND HELD DOWN DEL AND MY BIOS CAME UP!!!! I'm setting it up now, the monitor didn't turn on fast enough to see what was before the bios so I don't know if I got that blank screen again. I'll set up bios and get back with ya when I'm done. Keep giving suggestions about switches now!

try this....

Disconnect the wires from the power switch... Leave everything else connected.... now, touch the two power switch pins on the header with a screw driver for just a second and remove it promptly. Should start up fine. A momentary switch acts the same way... there is only contact for as long as it's pressed. The relay doesn't reset after power off until the connection is broke.

EDIT: The switches you show look like regular toggle switches to me. I personally haven't seen momentary toggle switches before (that's not to say they don't exist). When you flip the switch to your ON position does it stay in place or spring back to it's initial position? If it stays in place, it's not momentary. If it's not momentary you'd need to flip the switch to the ON position then flip it back after just a second. This is part of the ATX standard.

When I had the MB out by itself, I just touched the power switch wires together and it turned on fine. I didn't use any switches then and it worked. So it must be the momentary switches.

Had to restart computer again, and when I hit reset switch it restarted, ran for 3 sec then shut off. Then when I turned it back on it did the same thing, ran for 3 sec then shut off. Why would it be doing that? If I unplug PS and plug back it everything is back to normal. Is there a BIOS setting that needs to be changed?

EDIT: Ok, it only turns on properly if I wait a couple of minutes, unplugging the power doesn't matter!

Also, could it have anything to do with that I'm using 2 reset wires (blue ones with Reset on the connector) instead of a Power one? I didn't think it would matter.

Ok, so I turned my power switch to my header around and now my power switch works fine. Doh. Evedently the switch can go either way to turn the MB on, but only one way functions properly. But my reset switch still doesnt work, when I reset it does the stupid 3 sec thing again!
