Default New 1.4Ghz p3 slot processors, good idea, but worth the money?

I saw at Tom's hardware on the mainpage that they had adaptors to get a P4 to get into a slot processor, granted my mobo accepts a slot processor, it caught my eye, I was reading the article, and I can get a 1ghz processor(Celery) for $100. Now, I could get a more efficient, more expandable XP 1700 and a mediocre botherboard to support it for not much more than that.
Not that my motherboard is that much greater by today standards anyways, I guess I'm just rambling but does anyone have any opposing views, or any views at all for that matter?

It would be like putting a V-12 Merlin engin into a volkswagen beetle.

The suspension would collapse.

No, seriously, it would run that mobo as fast is it would go, but the CPU would be chocked down and limited. Those Slot-1 motherboards don't have the memory bandwidth to let that chip stretch it's legs.

A better idea would be to look for a P3 Mobo with the best of current tech, DDR Ram, etc.

A good ol' P3 is still a potent solid chip. A duelly is even better.

Who the fudge would think up of something like that. Yeah its a good idea for VERY poor people, but other than that, the idea is senseless. DEATH TO SLOT PROCESSORS!!! Sorry but I think Slot processors suck and are slow and ghettoish. My brothers Athlon K7 750mhz SLOT PROCESSOR sucks more than my 550mhz AMD K6-2+ SOCKET PROCESSOR. Who the hell was on crack when they thought of this?

Clown - pictures of what?
I'm a little suprised it went on this long to, but like I said, even if you are poor, you can get a more efficient low end XP AND a low efficient(still, probably more efficient than my mobo) motherboard. I guess it's a nice idea.

I believe some idiot thought he/she could make money by selling new **** for old ****. Well I'm sorry but the Tech World doesn't work that way.

IMHO get a 1700+ with mobo something like a shuttle ak32a or ecs k7s5a if you dont want to invest in ddr quite yet the shuttle runs for about $62 on newegg and the ecs for $52 granted the shuttle has KT266A and the Ecs sis 735, KT266a being the better chipset.
