Default my dad broke another soyo

well he did it again. editing video, leaves it on over night, next morning wont boot. this is the third soyo kt333 platinum this has happened to. he says when you press the insert key it boots. but if you dont it wont. what is happening? could it be the case since it is the only thing that hasnt changed? (it has new psu, cpu, video)
help please
and i discovered that it really angers him when you say "i thoght you were an electrical engineer? so this is why that rocket crashed."
is there some kind of lock out feature but then how would it have turned on?

i have that same board and the only feature that i am aware of that prohibits you from turning the thing on, is the "cpu fan detect" function in the bios, i think its under "pc health". It basically, right after the computer starts looks for a cpu fan and if it doesn't find one, it shuts down to protect the cpu. ****ty i know, but check your fan, and all its connections and the first time it turns on, get into the bios disable the feature and turn the temp shut-off feature on to the lowest setting, i think 60C, which is pretty darn hot. Its a good idea to have that temp shutoff feature on anyway, especially since your disabling the fan detect function.

Another thing you might want to check, is the front panels connections to the motherboard and make sure that everything is plugged in correctly and securly.

Ahhh your in luck i belive Carbon!.... If you check your manual under the FOC(fan off control) , it should state that the way to bypass the fan off contol is to hold the insert key.

So he probably has one of two problem, he has a bad sensor lead on his CPU fan, or the RPM's are not enough for the board, Soyo i belive put out a new bios to resolve the issue on the low RPM's so you probaly want to flash your bios.

I've had problems with some of our computers at work that will go into a hibernate mode, or suspend mode...then not wake up. It may be your power saver settings, I've seen some systems that like to go to sleep....but not wake up..

BzA, how about laughs, chuckles, chortles, snickers, or snorts. But giggles? That's like slamming your thumb with a hammer and yelling "Owie".

Just ragging you bro. I remember when my kids were toddlers and we were toilet training the older one. We were at a friends Halloween party and were playing an extremely drunken game of Pictionary when I stood up and started to head to the bathroom. My wife called out "It's your turn." I yelled back across the room "I'll be right back, I have to go potty." Got a load of crap for the rest of the night.

well since i havent gone throgh set up on this board (not my rig, i have an asus) i cant seem to figure it out. it has the latest bios. i turned off the fan safety shutdown thing. i cleared the cmos.
it still wont boot unless i press insert.
everything seems to be fine once it has started. it has the same problem with a blank HDD or a floppy.

Bigakita, you're married?! How does a marry man spend this much time on an overclocking forum and still manages to pimp out your rig?

Understand that the insert key is kind of like bypassing the bios settings. Tells me that you have something incorrectly configured within the bios.

My computer desk is in the family room, so I can sit in my big old comfortable chair while watching movies or TV with the family. My wife's computer desk is also here so we can both be online and still hold a conversation.

You will notice though that I am usually on in the morning, or later in the evening. I may check as I walk by the desk throughout the day, but normally am not on during the day as much.

Kids have their own computer, another laptop, AND a PS2 to get online with. All of this tied up into a nice tidy network. You know what they say, the family that computes together, uh......is good.

Cool BZA! How old are you? All you have to do is walk down to your nearest recruiting station and become an "Army of One". Tell them you are interested in becoming an elite 11B or 18B.
