| Here is the deal I have been running an xp 1700 and then upgraded to a 1800. Both worked fine in my system(described below). The board auto sets the fsb to 100 and it must be changed to 133, no prob untill I got the xp 2000. Now, of course it automatically sets the fsb to 100 but when i manually set it to 133 after the initial post beep, evrything shuts down and i get nothing but a lou irratating beep that never ends. I have tried 2 2000s and verified the 1800 still works. Now on a couple of tries I have gotten almost into windows but not very often. Oh by the way if i leave the fsb at 100 i am fine except that i am running at 1.25ghz.Any ideas? MB - Soyo kt400 dragon RAM - 512 pc2100 kingston Vid - G4ti4400 | ||

| Hey hey I finally got the man himself on this one. Glad to have mr. big. Anyway, the power supply is generic 350w, just says "made for pentium 4". The bios settings seem fine, i checked, its just odd that at anytime i can through an 1700 or 1800 in there and it works but as soon as I put the 2000 in i crap out. Anymore ideas? | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | I found this at AMD's web site. Notice that the XP2000 is left out. Does that mean that there is a problem using the XP2000 in the Soyo KT400 motherboard? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ AMD Athlon XP™ Processor Recommended Motherboards Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra Recommended Speeds: Athlon XP 2700+ Athlon XP 2600+ (333FSB) Athlon XP 2600+ (266FSB) Athlon XP 2400+ Athlon XP 2200+ Athlon XP 1800+ (Model 8) Athlon XP 1700+ (Model 8) | |

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Another suggestion. When you bought your motherboard was the XP2000 out yet. Maybe you need a bios update to support the XP2000. You might want to contact Soyo tech support before you continue. If your comfortable with doing it you can try flashing your bios and updating the drivers. | |

| Follow this link to the Soyo download page, and make sure you have the most current BIOS. Call the help center also if you have to, before sending it back or spending more $$ ![]() http://www.soyousa.com/downloads/ | ||

| Contact me via PM and I will send you a "performance" bios for that board. It's custom hacked. Run the FSB at 133 but change your multiplier from 12.5 to 12. Ram at SPD. Up the voltage to the CPU just a little. And are you running 1 or 2 sticks of RAM? EDIT: I looked around a bit and yes, a lot of people are having problems with the Soyo KT400 and XP2000 processor. You cannot run the CPU in Auto, you must manually set the frequency. You can run RAM in SPD. There is a B5 bios out that is supposed to allow 2100+ and under CPUs run more stable. Try all this and let me know what happens. Last edited by BigAkita; 10-December-02 at 01:12 PM.. | ||
