AMD XP2800 picked for ultimate gaming machine

The TechTv program Screen Savers built the ultimate gaming machine. They considered price and performance as the major criteria. Their picks start with the following:

* CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2800

* Motherboard: Asus A7N8X

* RAM: Corsair XMS 3500 DDR 433 MHz (two 512MB sticks)

And how is this relevant to anything? They obviously have one hell of a budget to play with, just going by what you've said already. My guess for Graphics card is Radeon 9700 or GeForce FX, radeon more likely because its out now and the FX isn't due for awhile yet.

But you never know. Im sure they probably have a a working FX laying around. lol! Nvidia is like one of there sponsors.

Maybe the paper release. I think the earliest we will see one online or in the stores will be late January. It might be as late as March from some reports. So who knows.

The only reason I want to see the FX in there is because it would be one of the first systems to run it and also to have benchmarks for it.

nVidia is trying to keep benchmarked results of the FX null. They've given several working preproduction FXes out, but forbade benchmarks to be publicated.

On the [H] a little while ago there was a link to a video file of a TechTV-ish type show (in German) where they were illustrating the power of an FX, only to be led into a BSOD. Funny stuff

Yah I saw that to I think the show is called GIGA. When the machine crashed they just keep going like it was no big deal! LOL
