Question XP 2400+ vs. 2600+ (which one?)

I'm getting an upgrade for xmas, and I can't decide which CPU I want.

I want the 2600+ 333 because its got the fast FSB...and great OCing potential (supposed to be able to read 3600+ speeds according to Tom), however the price gap between it and the 2400+ is a whopping $110.

If I get the 2400+, the nforce2 mobo I'm getting should automatically unlock it just like with the 2600+, so I can just change the multipliers and the FSB and make it into a 2600+.

So, in the end, will I thank myself for getting a 2600+?

IMO the 2400 is a much much better value, but if you arent the one paying for it then shoot for the moon!

Well....I guess I could try and get them to get the 2600+....

Then again, the 2600+ 333 is just a 2600+ with an increased FSB and lowered multiplier. So really I can just save a ton and get the 2400+ and push it up there (not that far anyways) and save $110 (case mods!)

The stock increased FSB should perform as well memory-wise (using PC2700) as an FSB-overclocked (but multiplier-underclocked) XP right?

Get the 2400+, and put the money saved towards a water kit so you can hit some insane overclocks.

If you can reap the difference then yeah i agree with BA, but if someone is asking you which one you want...

I would get the 2400, in my opinion, anything higher than that is just stupid unless you have like, a 9700 and water cooling system built by NYS plumbing department. :\ the $110 could be used in much, much, MUCH better places.
