Question dual athlon 900 Mhz motherboard?

My son and I have upgraded our motherboards as far as our current BIOS will allow. His to Athlon XP 2100+ and me to 1800+. Now we have two old but good Athlon 900 Mhz CPU's. Has anyone made a motherboard that we can use these older chips in for a server? Thanks for any help you can give us.

As far as i know the first dual proc AMD systems started with the 1 Ghz Athlon MP's. They have the ability to run in tandom. Thats just my thoughts. I maybe wrong.

you need a mp chipset board, try the tyan tiger mp, mpx boards will not work with thunderbird cpus.

you could make a server with just one...That should work fine for most things...

ungarmax has a good idea. You can get a MB with built on everything. I see that a stick of 512 at pricewatch is only 28 dollars. pc 100 and 133. Throw a 40 or 60 in there and youd have yourself a pretty good server. Sell the other 900 and put it into modding the case. Just my ideas

i dont think you can run those procs in dual. Like I said before the only dual procs i know about are the MP's and some XP's.

SMP is symmetric multiprocessing

I meant the tyan tiger MP not the tiger tiger =P

And the thunderbirds WILL run in SMP even if their caches werent designed for it. All thunderbirds ive heard of will run in smp, if you have issues getting the second cpu to be recognized by your os, you can always use the pencil trick to connect the L5 bridge on your cpus. (not to be confused with the L1 bridge for unlocking multiplier)

I personally have run dual 1.2 ghz thunderbirds on a tyan tiger MP without any cpu modification and it ran just fine, in fact it was my dual amd platform before i upgraded to my current dual 1900 mp rig.

Hmm...quite interesting... Will that werk on 2 duron 1.3s?
Sounds like something i might consider. Does dual processors require more ram, or does it take less? Is it hard to get them configured?

Durons can run in smp too yes, and i believe the 1.3's are morgan core and they should run in mpx platforms as well as mp, so it gives you a much wider choice of motherboards

For stability and ease of use i would recommend the MSI K7D Master, for the ultimate in dually OC'ing there is no other board that comes close to the Iwill MPX, I've seen FSB speeds of 180mhz+ and i've heard of people running dual 2800+ XPs in this board, hope that helps.

oh and as for memory, these platforms are kinda finicky, stick with namebrand registered memory, 512 should be sufficient unless you are running some crazy apps.

ok guys, I realized that I had two good chips on hand and that I could build a really good server with one. But I guess that what your all really telling me is that NO, no one has made a motherboard that supports two Athlon 900 chips......I guess I will try to sell them. Gosh I also have a Commodore 64, a P1 233, PII 300 chip and now these.......wonder if I should donate them to some third world goverment to run their IT office equipment!
