Don't know why Gigabyte decided to lose the mounting holes around their CPU sockets, a major blemish for what is otherwise a very nice board.

I'm talking about the 4 mounting holes around the CPU for mounting large heatsinks and most good water kits.

the reason i said that is because it sounded liek to me that bigakita and BZA thought it was a AMD board

No Maverick, I'm a little brighter than that.

BZA, yes, the reference design from AMD dropped the holes, but companies like Epox, Asus, Soyo, and Abit, all who make good overclocking boards, kept the holes in their design because they know a lot of us want them.

Damn, I want that board...hurry up, gigabyte!! I need a good board to support a 3gig chip!!

Man, that thing has everything...

And you know, for all that offers, I could do without the minor setback of no other mounting holes...perhaps Alpha will redo their heatsink to fit the mounting holes of the plastic bracket!

Until manufacturers figure out how to make the socket stronger, the bolting through the motherboard method is the safest way to mount a heavy heatsink with fan or a big old chunk of copper filled with water. Especially if you lan with your rig, one big bump and you will be listening to the sound of your CPU rolling around in the bottom of your case.
