Default A few questions

k here goes, well i got a job and im goin to upgrade alot of my stuff, so i was figgering i would buy a nf7-s, but would it change much from my current mobo ? ( read sig) becosue my current mobo isnt dual channel, its a kt400 ( old) and it doesnt have any locks to lock vid fsb etc, also i currenly have a geforce 4 ti-4800, the asus 9600xt is only 200$ down here canadian and i was wondering if its worth it to change.. woudl i see a big imporvment from what i haev to that, or is the fx5600 at 170$ a better value, thx for the help in advanced.

I wouldn't say that a new motherboard would have a huge difference over the one you have now. You already have a pretty good overclock and there isn't a reason for you to change. Dual channel doesn't give that much better performance.

Yes, you should go for the 9600XT. It is a much better card than the Ti4800 and the FX5600.

See, I would disagree with ya there...it's only a 9600...basically all you're getting is DX9 compatibility...your 4800 is a really good card still. If it were me, I'd just keep the 4800 (and the motherboard for that matter) and save up for an X800 PCI-E and a PCI-E motherboard, which should be out in the next few months.

ya but my mobo at the moment wont get tras of 8 only 6 or 7, and the ram wont run over 180 cuz the ram is meant to have a tras of 8 at 200, and its steadily getting less stable, now its at 2.24 cuz it gets less adn less stable, and its running at 12.5 x 174 or soemthing liek that, and i can bench at 11x200 which gioves me a score of 13000, but i cant paly games and at whatits now im only getting 11900. so i tihnk ill get the mobo, and save for a 6800GT, cuz the pcix mobos at the moment are only for 64bit procs or dual something.. and i dont want to waste my money on a 64bit proc cuz 64bit programs wont be around for a while and by then ill probably want to change my proc anyways, and i have the money to waste anyways.

Unless you are going to go all the way, best to leave your system where it's at like PJ said.
If you get a new mobo, then you'll want better RAM, then your card will need to be upgraded...save your money till you can get it all where you want to be in the end...that's what I'd do...

PJ is right. The 4800 is still a good card. Although, if you wanna play the newer games right now it would help to have the DX9 capability. But since the next generation of cards are coming out, it would be wise to save your money and get one of those cards that would play the newest games better.

My bad.
