Default Case Frying Motherboards??

A few months ago, one of my old computers all of a sudden started doing something weird, instead of starting up, it would do continuous long beeps. Every now and then when I would miss with some stuff by reseating it, it would come on. Eventually it stopped working completely and was tossed. The case, however, was saved. Today I tooked my new, perfectly fine, nothing wrong with it, computer and took the guts out and proceeded to put them in this death trap of a case. And now, as you can guess, it's doing the exact same thing! Two totally different boards and BIO's and yet it's doing the same thing my old one started out by doing. I can turn it on only by moving around some parts! Can this case actually be killing my parts? Here are my specs:

Old Parts:
Soyo board, and pretty basic parts

New Parts:
Asus A7n8x board, and some pretty expensive components

PLEASE HELP ME!! WHY IS MY CASE KILLING MY MOST PRIZED POSSESSIONS?!?!?!?!??!

Is the outlet properly grounded that you're using?

Yes, I have tried two outlets now. The first one was the one that I had it plugged in the first time with my old case, you don't think that outlet already roasted my board just because it wasn't properly grounded do you?

Why don't you start by using your brain. As in...trying to boot the system laid out on a table, out of case.

Wow man that was harsh...... I do agree however about laying your system out on a table without the case but i suspect a bad psu. Use the same psu that you have in your case and see if you get your beeps and you should have this problem solved.

Too much work I guess, haha. Actually I'm interchanging the memory and it seems to be working some times, so it may be a memory problem.... But I still don't understand why switching cases could have done something to my memory because it was working fine earlier.

UPDATE: Ok, I evidently have a bad memory slot!!! I have dual channel ram, and the slot you must use to use that feature isn't working!! $#*%!!!!!!

Ok, why is my dual channel not working any more? I tested both sticks and they work fine, and it was working before I switched cases. What could cause it not to work?

P.S. Everything is the same as before, except for the case, the PSU is the same that was powering it before; a 430W Enermax

How exactly are we supposed to know why you may or may not be running dual-channel when you
have told us nothing about how you supposedly "found out" that you have this "bad memory slot"?

ok first i would try the PSU. sounds like something could be wrong! over voltage or maybe under volting! 2nd are all the pegs that the board sits on in? like maybe you have one sitting on the bored? like you put one in the wrong spot you know? One of my friends put his pc together an he ended up bringing it down to my house an asking me if i can fix it because it didnt turn on! Turns out he didn have any pegs! The mother board was laying on the case!! lucky for him it didnt fry anything cuz he had a good PSu an it put it to protection when he tried to turn it on! But take a Fluke meter or some kind of meter that test volts an see if you what you psu is putting out on the 5V an the 12V rails!

Ok, tekXoid, I'm not a complete moron. I know how to troubleshoot things, but just for you, I will tell you how I completed this marvalous feat....
First I plugged one stick into slot 3, didn't work. I plugged the other stick in slot 3, didn't work. Plugged one stick into slot 1, worked. Plugged other in slot one, worked. Plugged one in slot 1, and one in slot 3, didn't work. Switched them, didn't work. Plugged one in slot 1, and other in slot 2, worked. Got it?

And MaTts, I have all brass stand-offs in place and board isn't sitting on any metal.

Tekx gets a tad excited sometimes.....he needs to take his meds hahahaa.....but he has good oppinions...
I suspect building this outside the case it will work....
This very thing happend to me....Using an acrylic case and an enermax 430 watt PSU....
It wouldnt boot in the case...all standoffs correct...everything.....Other boards worked in the case...but the NF7-S would not....Still doesn't to this day...moving the componets to a diff case...same psu and all and whallaa it boots....but something about that case...well also the outlet had a ground loop problem once...So I tried a diff PSU...No go...Diff mem...NO GO....nothing short of DO NOT USE THAT BOARD IN THAT CASE....its a mystery to me why it happens but it does...So I have a nice acrylic case here I can't use cause of it....
Do however check your outlet...Make sure its in phase and that the ground loop hasn't failed somwhere...usually thats the first thing that causes it.....Welcome to the unknown
If you find a good solid answer please share it with me.......2 other qualified techs and a certified electrician couldn't solve my mystery...I hope you do...And I am no dummy eithier....

Wow, I'm retarted and you guys are right, haha. Problem fixed... Apology to tekxoid, I'm a moron, haha!! Here's what I had done:
If you guys ever examined the holes for brass stand offs under the board, there are extra ones. Well on my asus board there are holes around the CPU as if you could use brass standoffs to secure it more and the board wouldn't bend as much when you install a CPU. Well, the holes looked as if they lined up with the holes for brass standoffs, so I put in 4 extra standoffs to hold the board up more, but didn't screw any screws in. Well I guess these holes don't line up, so the brass was on the back of the board where they souldn't have been and caused it not to work. Well I removed this standoffs and VOILA! it works!! Thank you guys for your help, and for you that think I'm a moron, let me have it, haha!

sorry to hi-jack your thread, but... it kinda gets me laughing that you have problems with shorting out in a case made of plastic. Just, creepy...

you may now return to your normal posting activities.

EDIT: actually, Tekx, you are an a$$hole, but it's okay, you're also right.

Anybody else use the "count the holes on the motherboard" technique?
I have encountered that too tall bastard standoff before, but too many, I haven't done yet.
