Mobo lever wont go down

My friend has a NF7-S and a 2500 Mobile CPU he says after he lifts the CPU lever thing on the motherboard and places the CPU in (and properly since it won't fit any other way) After he fits the CPU onto the motherboard he says he can't put the lever back down.

If it was me and its a new CPU I would return the cpu or board, somthing similar happened to me once and I ended up witha broken pin on the CPU; still have it too, never been used .
Wanna buy it ???
Seriously though, are all these new parts or what ??

Yeah his stuff is new, he said he just tried to force it in and it worked. Hopefully he didn't break a pin =/. He said the lever got kinda messed up thought, I don't know if he took out the cpu again to check it. We're off the phone now.

CPU sockets are called or are ZIF Sockets d00d, meaning Zero Insertion Force; hope it still works !!!!

Zero INSERTION force, sure it drops right in, but this does not apply to the actual process of securing of the processor; ...the lever. Meaning that an amount of force is indeed required to secure the lever.

You cannot unintentionally damage the ZIF unless it is actually defective mechanically.

A properly inserted processor, as long as you press down on the chip surface around the die while using a single finger to push down the lever, will not encounter damage.
