| Ok so this summer I'm planning on upgrading my computer with a new motherboard and CPU... Earlier this year I already replaced my origonal mobo with a GigaByte 7N400 Pro2 which is still running great but I'm also moving over to water cooling and for my setup I need the holes around the processor to install the block, so I said screw it, I'll get a new mobo and processor while I'm at it... So what I'm looking for is suggestions for a good mobo/cpu combo. I'm thinking no expense spared on the mobo but maybe keep the price a lil on the lower side for the CPU but I havent entirely ruled out getting an Athlon 64 yet. So please, hit me with all your suggestions, my only requirement is the processor isnt too expensive and the mobo has the 4 holes to mount my block. | ||

| I would suggest the Mobile version of the 2500+, they are multiplier unlocked, and regulary hit 2.5 GHZ on air cooling, and 2.7GHZ with good water cooling. Zenn got 2.9GHZ out of a hand picked Mobile2600+ with his wicked water! http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-401&depa=0 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-436&depa=0 | ||

First off the mobile Barton is a CPU that is designed to run on less voltage, 1.5 vs 1.65 on the 2500's. Secondly the multiplier is unlocked vs locked at 11 for the 2500. They also are able to run at a higher temperature, by design. All of this makes for a good O/C'n formula. FYI there is an excellent mount that utilizes the 3-tabs on the ZIF socket, for mounting the S-TDX,TDX, and RBX waterblocks, also offered at dangerden. only 15 bux, check it out right here... I have personally used it on that particular mobo you have already with good results. You might want to go that route and save the money on a new CPU and board. Put the savings toward a better grade H20 system from the start... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
