Im not much of an intel man, but wait for one of our intel men to show up and they can tell you if you made a good choice. The only observatiosn I can make is that it might be a bad choice because it is kinda of an off brand.

P>S> you are forgiven, just dont let it happen agian

i wouldnt get either of the boards you listed, but that is just personal preference. I would get the Asus P4P800, it is an 865 based board for all socket 478 P4's. Nice price and great performance i have the big brother to that board, the P4C800E - Dlx. 875P chipset and just flat out flies, the best socket 478 board IMO.

Yeah chrome is right about the Intel chipset, I have the P4P800-D and if you are considering a budget board wait and save some more money get it instead.

IMO id look around some more before you throw cash at an expesive chip like the 3.2. If a guy can achieve just as good of performance with a 100 dollar chip and a good cooling setup, than why waste the cash.

heh personally im an AMD man but for now my old crappy rig is a intel and its ok (for now) if you like 233 mhz oh well , but yeah id go with Chrome on this one and maybe spend abit more money and get a board that has dual channel DDR slots for getting the mist out of your computer!!!

both the 865 and the 875 support dual channel memory, it is the 848 chipset that is single channel

Listen to Chrome. I too have the ASUS P4C800-e and I love it. Chrome even helped me update my bios lol! I too also recently just finished my new comp. It wasnt so bad and I loved every minute of it . You should be fine. Have a good day man.

ps. I too heard some bad things about SIS, I wouldnt know though because I dont speak from experience. Generally, you want to use well known companys like ASUS, ABIT, INTEL based boards. But you probably knew that . Enjoy your build man.

Personally, I would get one of the 865PE boards that have "PAT" enabled. Stick with Asus or Abit (or MSI in this particular case). Almost all the performance of the 875, and way cheaper.

I would also buy a 2.4c instead of a 3.2. Decent air cooling will see you overclock to around 3.2 speeds. Just trying to save you some cash. Mind you, to oc like that ...... you will need to spend extra on high end ram.

If he buys that board or that crappy INTEL one he won'e be... Not allot of headroom on a 3.2 eithier...Get the 2.4C if you can still find one...And as chrome said...Asus P4P800 865 or the big bro P4P800E Deluxe 875...the Abit IC7 Max 3 is nice too...
But hey don't I always say
"If it has more the 4 letters on the box and it doesn't start with the letter "A" you got the wrong board...Put that down and get a different one..."
