Default ECS KT600-A sux0rz!!!

vauvbaiuvblrejvbhaiuvbreuvbnb;lhbobwaub ajlavoujlabob

I'm pissed because my CPU voltage is sitting at ~1.59v, and is not adjustable in BIOS. That's probably why my setup becomes unstable at 172 fsb x13 (a f$!#in 5 MHz boost)

rawr.

DUH!! its an ECS board with a VIA chipset. Should have cut back on that 1GB of Geil RAM for a better board.

I got the RAM for 150, really unbelieveable deal.

And I picked the mobo because it was cheap at the time I got it and had SATA.

Now I'm going to wait for some nice KT880 based boards to come out and that will be my next change. I'm a fan of the underdog so its Athlons and VIA chipsets for me =P

Uhhh.... KT880 (properly K*8*T880) is for 64 bit processors and you have a socket A yes? So are you going to a sledgehammer core CPU?

KT880 is the new VIA chipset for Athlon XPs with dual-channel RAM support and whatnot.

K8T880 is the Athlon 64 chipset.

ECS really isnt an underdog, its more like Microsoft. They have the ability and cash, from penny pinchers such as yourself, to make a great board but simply dont because they know that they can continue to sell sh!t and the consumer will continue to eat sh!t. A good mobo would seriously boost the longevity of your components and your temper.

I stand corrected - but now after reading it's data sheet it's the same basic chipset but it bypasses the fundmental flaw of 32 bit by allowing a 32 bit processor to address 8 gigs and 2 more SATA controllers.

I don't see ECS as the underdog, rather just the chipset seeing as looking around most of you guys use the nForce 400 w/ K7s

And I doubt I'll ever buy an ECS again, I like my brother's Soyo Dragon KT400 Ultra PE so I might get a Soyo with a KT880 chipset in the coming months...

mmmmm looks good to me. My experience with Soyos has shown they have excellent features, but my brother just happened to get a lemon (since his idle is around 56C in his room at stock speeds X_X)

Duh. I had an ECS K7S5A Pro Ver. 5.0, was a really neat board until I gouged it with a screwdriver trying to clip on my Volcano 6 and had to send it back for RMA, which is non-existant if you don't buy from their 'authorized dealers'

Now it's my project for a motherboard clock, which I may put up for sale in the coming weeks.

ahh another satified ECS customer.

i dunno about all that stuff on the first line but i guess it reads " wow what an amazing board for the cost but i do have some thoughts...."

Try a good ol' bios flash if ECS has them - i used to but ecs for all cutomer rigs but after their reputation slacks last year i moved to MSI and havent looked back since

The only ECS boards that I have found to be "OK" for building budget machines for the computer illiterate are the K7S5A and the K7SEM. Personnally I would rather use PC Chips boards in LOW budget machines, you get the same junk and unreliability for half the price.

Dood... Stop lying to the man...you had more problems with that junky ass DFI then anyone I know...That boards requires someone with half a sense to fix it....If it was owned by anyone else they would have rma'd it by now

Or maybe it was the zombie squirrels that keep fuxoring your board huh>?

He's got ya there KS...your DFI board is the sh!t - literally.

ECS - only extremely crappy systems are based on those boards. If you're really a cheap-ass get an MSI - at least they're reasonably stable. If you want to OC, then it's the a-brand group - Abit or Asus.
