Default Single or dual channel?

I look around on Google to check how much more do you get using dual channel compare to single channel.

I read a article that say's you get between 2-4% increase in performance.

So i decide to check for my self i use the same timing for one memory (Single) or two (Dual)

didn't see much difference between them but i'm getting 130 more points in 3DMark does that sound right??

Depends on the chipset.

Yes i know ...better but i was hopping for a lots more then a 2 to 4% increase.

From what i see it performe better but not much more.

anybody done some test Single vs Dual (Same timing) on the same board?

Cuz i don't get much more on Sandra 2004 in memory's test using dual channel.

Single ;
Int Buff. 2769 mb/s
Float Buff. 2510 mb/s

Dual ;
Int Buff. 2890 mb/s
Float Buff. 2670 mb/s

Yeah I found that there isn't a huge real world difference in dual channel ram, when running 3DMark and UT2k4 in both single and dual channel, there was almost no discernable difference unless fraps was running even then it was 2-5fps difference I think dual channels is totally hyped up and reason it exists is because no company (as to my knowledge) makes 1GB PC3200 Sticks that run better then 3-3-2-8.. in order to try to compensate for lack of ram they decided to pump the channels up a bit. Dual channel is not significant enough in games that it is necesaary, where as the real difference is if you have 1GB or more of RAM.

During my review of the P4SDX board I compared performance single vs dual channel. You can read about it here:

BA,

Yes I did see the difference in sandra as you did in your review but running programs such as games or even encoding software relies more on CPU Arithmetic and amount of RAM than memory bandwidth beyond 3.2GB/s, since RAM churns out speeds faster then the PCI and AGP bus there prolly won't be humungous visual differences, bechmarking utilities like SuperPi and Sandra will show them but will it show huge improvements in games that people have to use it? Personal expeience shows that my brothers rig (see below list) benifets more from having 3x256MB Sticks in SC than 2x256MB DC, because more textures etc. could be loaded up.

**EDIT: I am in no way saying you or anyone else is wrong so please don't take it that way, just merely stating my findings, if anyone doesn't belive me try it, as results and benifits may vary for certian rigs...

Bro's rig

MSI K7N2 Delta-L
AMD 2800+ (unlocked) 11x200
2x256MB Kingston HyperX PC3200
1x256MB OCZ PC4400 (which was added for testing and now is being used)
RAM is 1:1 200Mhz 2-3-3-6
Radeon 9600XT (stock)
Seagate 80GB ATA100 8MB
