Default Well, I sure done it this time. . .

Well I went to my computer two days ago and while it was in screen saver mode, it just shut down.

I didn't touch it or anything

Anyway, now it won't post at all, I got a new power supply-still nothing. Reset BOIS several times

Could it be my video card? I brought it to school in hopes it works in my friends computer.

All I can say is WTF?!

Also does anyone know if putting power through the 9800 without the mobo being powered will reck the 9800? I might have done that by accident while testing the power supply. . .

HELP! PLEASE! Although, I feel there is not much anyone can do, guess I need a new 9800 and IC7

Are you getting any beeps or fans or lights or anything when booting the thing? If no its probably not the vid card but more likely the mobo. If yes, could still be mobo or video card.

um, the most obvious thing i would do is test each piece independently

you never mentioned wether or not the card worked in your friends puter or not, and you know its certainly not the psu, simply try a diff video card in your existing system, and try your 9800 in a diff system, if either are defective, it will be glaringly obvious right then...

when the bios boots it should do error beeps, just look in the manual at these beeps and match them to the correct problem.....that always works for me when trying to figure out the problem.... if you don't get beeps than it's probably ur mobo thats screwed if you replaced the PSU already. don't mean to insult ur intelegence, but make sure the PC speaker wires are plugged into ur BIOS.... damn that was an expensove mistake for me

Friend tested the video card moments ago and. . .BANG! nothin!

I told the lady at ATI tech support that the original heatsink somehow fell off and was replaced with a water block by gremlins. Sure is strange! But hey! wasn't my fault.

Hopefully that is all that is wrong, I'm gonna go get a Voddoo3 from a friend, I hope I can still play desert combat on that!

I'm not at my house right now, so I can't do the beep test-still need to locate a speaker.

I'm not sure but I would wagure that there is no way desert combat will run on a voodoo 3, but those cards are fairly decent still. Even if it does run you're deffinatelly going to notice a difference.

Decent for what?, playing halflife 2 My 9600XT can barely play new games, my 9700Pro is borderline. A Voodoo of any kind isnt even in the same catagory.

Anyone know of those programs that use the CPU instead? Maybe I could try that.

I just need it to run a little. Even at 640 by 680 or whatever the lowest res is.
