Default false Heat readings???

I have just checked my HTPC which was reading 85deg Celcius and 165deg Celsius case temp.

My CPU HSF wasnt hot at all!

Case lid was off too!

How can i rectify these false readings?

How are you measuring these temps?

Other than that, there's nothing you should do since those temps sound just fine to me. What's the hardware in that case?

I would also like to know your method of testing.

Yes, your fins could be cool with the CPU hot, but something doesn't sound right to me here.

When the temps read 80+C, go to the bios and see what they read.

Are you using the version of Asus Probe that came on the CD with your board? Or a newer one you downloaded? I had a similiar problem and it turned out to be the version of Asus probe I downloaded.

It will give you an idea of the accuracy. If your probes are accurate there should only be a few degree variant. If they are not accurate, you will see a huge variance.
