Asus Q-fan in Bios!

Actually, when booting up, i get a message saying something like:

" No drive connected to Fasttrack controller, Bios not installed!"
Thi shas something to do with the Promise Fasttrack RAID controller, but since im running only 1 HDD, it shouldnt be a problem i would think!

I tested this by disabling the case fan in the bios and re-booted the machine, but the case fan is still whirling away!

i am using a Sata HDD and a IDE CDrom.

What can i do to ensure that the bios is installed!

What are you asking for? Help with the Q-Fan or BIOS? Is this a new setup?

Umm what the hell are you asking?

And BTW, Q-Fan is just a thermal controller.. turning off the controller means your fan's going to be spinning at top speed, all the time..

WOW! I didnt think id ever see anyone ask this ? My friend had the same board as you with the same problem! we tryed everything finally we sent it back to asus an got a new one for free! the board was junk it just up an died like a daylater we had no idea what was wrong with it asus told us that they were still trying to find the problem an they said for the inconvience we are just going to send you a new one! well they sent us the newest board out !

What iam asking is.

I can get to the bios to enable Q-fan so my fans dont spin at full speed all day, but the changes to the bios are being enabled because of the fasttrack error!

So i need help to activate my new bios settings!

Q-Fan in the bios only works if you have a heatsink/fan with a chip in it that allows the bios to communicate with it. Otherwise you use Cool n Quiet in Windows itself.

Im not saying much but if you try to reflash the Bios it might have a possibility off correcting it thats how I got my asus to read my changes

Yeah, flash the bios...then get a cpu/fan combo designed to work with Q-Fan. Don't you read?

BA's right regarding the Q-Fan feature. The Fasttrack reporting that the BIOS isn't loaded is completely unrelated. If you don't have any HD's connected to the Promise controller's bus it doesn't load the Promise controller's BIOS... saves resources (a tiny scrap of memory). If you don't like the message, just disable the Promise controller in BIOS.... it speeds up the boot sequence anyway since it doesn't waste time scanning for drives then.
