nForce2 chipsets?

I thought we were waiting on this new chipset and it was going to be the second coming for AMD users? Are they already out? I saw on newegg.com they had a Leadtek mobo with an "nForce 2 SPP" chipset. Im confused. Is the nForce 2 out?

Yes, you would be correct, the nForce2 has been out actually, Asus (http://usa.asus.com/mb/socketa/a7n8x/overview.htm) and a few others offer boards with the new chipset, however, as for it being a second coming for AMD, no. Tom's Hardware reports that are only small advantages over the new VIA400.

The only reason we're seeing modest improvements is that wonderful 266 FSB bottleneck on the CPU's, we need the next-gen to see anything ever relatively better...

i saw a benchmark of an nForce2 and a 333mhz Athlon and it smoked a P4 (not sure what speed, 2.8 i think).

nForce 2 mobos are great because they have dual DDR technology giving 2 - 64bit chanels making a 128bit mem bus (if only u use 2 or 4 sticks or ram, kinda like rambus...)

this would double the banwith of mem bus

ALSO nForce boards use hypertransport (not gonna explain much, use google)...this is a big speed advantage cause the data would be able to get from point A to point B much faster then traditional mobos.
