Default Motherboard Switch Problem

Hi, about a week ago my Lanpart NF4 Expert just wouldn't turn on i tested the powersupply and it works fine, but when i hit the switch nothing happens and as soon as i give power to the board my computer on light turns on, so i think it is the switch on the motherboard itself. So i was thinking of tapping into the 13th and 14th pins on my powersupply and wire in a switch to start it up. Do you think this could work and if not what could possibly happen.
Thanks for any help in advance.

The Mobo and reset switches are both essentially the same (momentary switches)

If you think its the power switch and dont have a spare ,use the reset switch instead.

Or just jump(short)the pins momentarily to power on the motherboard...

The board itself has a switch on it but that doesn't work either, so i was gonna wire in a switch to jump the power supply so hopefully that could work.

Hmm...sounds like a dead Mobo to me.

Have you double checked that the Mobo 12V power connector is firmly seated

If you're not sure what you're doing, I highly suggest NOT fooling with the wiring in your PSU. Just a bad idea.

I checked the connector and it's seated properly, when this happened the first time i tried turning it on i started up for like 2 seconds and then quit and again the second time i tried after that nothing has happened when i try either the switch on the board itself or the switch on the case. Does that sound like a dead mobo ?

If you've got a light on the mobo, then that means it's receiving power. Maybe not adequate power, but it is receiving power. I hate to blame a PCP&C power supply as the fault, but that might be the problem in this instance. That being said, does anything spin up at all when you hit the power button? Optical drives? Any fans powered directly from the PSU?

With the PSU plugged properly into the mobo (both the ATX and the 12v power pin additional power), did you hit the reset button first, and then the power button?

Have you tried the following, taken from page 37 of your manual:
If you encounter the following,
a) CMOS data becomes corrupted.
b) You forgot the supervisor or user password.
c) You are unable to boot-up the computer system because the
processor’s ratio/clock was incorrectly set in the BIOS.
you can reconfigure the system with the default values stored in the
ROM BIOS.
To load the default values stored in the ROM BIOS, please follow
the steps below.
1. Power-off the system and unplug the power cord.
2. Set JP2 pins 2 and 3 to On. Wait for a few seconds and set JP2
back to its default setting, pins 1 and 2 On.

By the way, an online version of your manual can be found here: http://www.dfi.com.tw/Upload/Manual/87910551.pdf

I already reset the bios and pulled the cmos battery out even. I pulled the 20pin connecter and jumped the power supply and everything that is connected to it worked so i am sure it's not the power supply, also when i turn the power supply on from the back switch my power light on my case itself that ussually turns on only when i turn on the compter is always on. So i think it's the board itself. So i am thinking that the only solution would be a new board and that is hoping that everything else still works.

CPU FAN!! Is disconected, If you shut it off in your bios it might have reset on you! Power failure? Have you taken the motherboard out lately? Moved any fans around? Sounds like its in a power safe mode.. Were Something is touching power to ground! i had this same thing happen to me.. First check the CPU fan to make sure its connected to the borad... If it is.. Now Disconnect EVERYTHING! All your drives everything and see if it does it still! let me know it it still does!

If something is touching power to ground its shutting the psu down as soon as it seances it! For safety! Even if a fan goes bad in the coils of the fan and the blades stop spinning it could cause this!

Have you tested the battery? On the mobo? Should be a lil over 3volts! And Try this.. Unplug the P4 connector from the board and try again!
