Default cpu overheating???

just a random question, but just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. i have a 5600+ running at factory speeds no overclock. i recently got a program to check my cpu temp just to see what it was. on 1 core im running about 44c and on the other about 44-46c. my board seems fine and my heatsink isnt even hot at all. so is this just a error or am i really running that hot and its not realizing this??? my board is a piece of junk asus thats a very low end board with no way to even tell what the temp is on the mobo.

im not looking to fry my cpu so any help would be appreciated.

Are these load temps or idle,if its at load thats not very hot.

Also its not unusual for the cores to be a couple of degrees different.

Try a good stress test like orthos ,and see what kind of temps you get with all cores loaded 100%

techPowerUp! :: Download Orthos Stress Prime 2004

you can find super Pi and core temp here

From AMD's tech doc http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/cont...docs/33954.pdf Your chips max temp is up around 70c. If yours is running 44-46c idle, it's not great but it is well within limits. Try what RBIEZE said and find out what your max temp is under full load. That is more the factor of chip safety than idle temps.

Sounds like a bad heatsink mounting to me. Can you turn the heatsink while it is mounted? I recommend pulling the sink, cleaning up the CPU, and applying a REAL THIN layer of TIM. I'm talking transparent layer. Then, when you put the sink back on make sure it is tightented down evenly and firmly. I sometimes use washers to place under the screws to give it a little more force. Your temps should drop after all that.
