Default chipset fan removal

hi all,
can someone tell me how to remove the chipset fan from an msi kt4-ultra mobo? its got two little black button things on oppisite corners but i cant figure out how they work and i dont want to break them. i really need to get this thing off as im upgrading to waater cooling. thanks,

they are probabpy clips, if you look at the bottom of the motherboard(the backside, the downside, whatever), are there little pointy things sticking thru that look like you can squeeze them? if so, squeeze them and *gently* pull your cooler, I think MSI uses a thermal interface compound (Arctic silver or the like) so it shouldnt be too sticky, but in any case, dont force it.

Your absolutley correct about MSI using thermal interface compound. It is very hard to unstick when you have been using the MOBO for a long time because its had the chance to thicken and harden up. Um about getting it off try twisting from left to right and then try lifting it up. It'll work. If not, stop the fan on the Northbridge(chipset) and let the MOBO run for a while to heat the sucker up and then turn off the computer and try taking it off. It should be easier.

Use a hairdryer to warm it up. Lot quicker and easier.
