| Apex Techie Wannabe | I'm kind of a newb to this so bare with me. system specs~ windows 2000 ati Radeon 9800xt 256MB video card 1 gig of 2700 DDR 2800AMD Barton cpu nforce2 motherboard 350 power supply 40 gig hard drive (I have all the newest drivers for everything and directx 9.0b) Ok my problem is with my video card I beleive. I was playing an mmorpg (massive multi player online role playing game) with this computer which by far exceeds the requirements to play the game but yet the game is playing horribly as far as Frames Per Second (FPS). I've read many post on the game boards about people with computers at about half the strength of mine who are getting much better frame rates and playing with the same graphic settings. Is it true that ATI cards don't work well with nForce motherboards? Or is there somthing I can do myself to make my computer run optimal? I tried the game morrowind on my computer which has very nice graphics and it played flawlessly which left me in confusion. Please help me | |

The game is called Horizons. It was released I think in early december of 2003. There are alot of post on the official boards about people having alot of trouble with ATI cards in general with this game. I've heard others say its because some of the people are using nForce but there are other people who don't use nForce who are still getting really crappy FPS. I don't know if the game has inept coding or if 200 people are idiots like me and are doing somthign wrong with ATI cards. Is there some kind of test I can on my computer to make sure all of my hardware is running at full power? Also, if your in a game and you pull up the screen to view FPS, there is also a meter for texmem. What does tex mem mean? my tex mem bar was only filling up about 1/4 the way. I think the bar goes from like 0-3,000,0000. Last edited by Cothor; 09-January-04 at 05:25 PM.. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
