Default processor 266 mhz - ram 333 mhz

Im trying to resurrect my old system
(a7n8x-x motherboard)

I just bought an amd athlon xp processor(but missed that it was 266mhz)

will my ram still work (they say 333 mhz on them)

a7n8x-x motherboard supports 266 & 333 (i think)

--

I have already tried to replace the motherboard - fans still kick in but no beep
so now i hoping its the cpu ( and that would suck if I just bought the wrong one)

The ram should work fine. Just gives you more room for overclocking.

i agree but if you don't overclock turn down your ram from 333 to 266 , the old athlonxp (socket A) had better result running your ram 1:1 with your cpu

I'll try turning the RAM down

I want this computer to be stable -

I want to give it to a good friend who is still using a Pentium II
(and I can't take it any more)
