Default Need help with OLD FIC Mobo and USB...

OK heres the problem
My moms computer has an OLD FIC Motherboard, I forgot the model but I could find out if need be
The motherboard has NO USB slots, and just recently, not knowing this, she bought a USB 2.0 Printer/copier/scanner to use on her computer. Now heres what I need to know:

If she purchased one of these:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...102-008&depa=1

Would she be able to use that on her motherboard to plug the printer/copier/scanner into?

Thanks,
Jesse

As long as she has a PCI slot open and is running atleast Windows 98 it will be OK. There is no USB support in Windows 95. Actually thats not entirely true as I do have a version labeled USB support but thats beside the point.

Question

Not so much a question of the mobo as the OS and slots:

1) Do you have a free slot for the card?
2) Is it a PCI slot or an ISA slot?
3) Are you running Win95, Win98, Win98SE, WinMe, WinXP, or other.

Actually, the VA-503+ has a built in usb controller, it just needs to be enabled in the bios. Here's a pic from the manual for mine:

That was cool scanning your manual to help out but he needs USB 2.0 not the onboard 1.1.

USB 2.0 items are backwards compatible with 1.1 if I remmember correctly; a printer/scanner would not need the full bandwidth of 2.0 anyways.

yea, it's backward compatible... I'm using USB 2.0 with my USB1.1Printer.....

BTW.... is USB 2.0 480 MEGA BYTE per secind or 480 MEGA BIT per second?

I believe it's 480 megabits per second, which equals 60 megabytes per second (8 bits equals a byte).
