Default Real Tek 97

Infinity M2 Ultra motherboard with on board Realtek audio, which for some reason doesn't want to detect the drivers. I've tried three different driver releases, the ones on the DFI site, the Realtek site, and the ones from my disc, none of which want to work.

I've deleted the drivers multiple times from the device manager, and yet they still never detect.

I have the temptation to move this machine to Vista.

Help me PCApex you're my only hope.

My first instinct is to make sure you have the onboard sound enabled in BIOS. Also, is it showing in the device manager? It shouldn't be if it's not enabled in BIOS, of course, but if it IS showing up as an unidentified device, that means there's another issue that I'm not qualified to attack.

I used to have an X-Fi on the board, so it was previously disabled. I turned it back on after I removed the card (In another system now).

I feel a bit stupid, because I went to quick assumption mode, deleting the one with the "!" next to it, realizing it wasn't sound devices. I'll go delete the sound devices now, and try again.

But now I'm wondering, what the hell could the extra device be?

I tried that driver pack, and nothing. Device Manager says they're all working properly.

I do however get the beeps from the motherboard.
