Default temp problem! help!

Alright guys, heres my problem, When I turn on the pc, I get a bunch of temp problems, so I go into the BIOS. The CPU temp in the bios is reading around 82*C, and my VCORE is fluctuating from 1.000 - to 1.6ish in that area. I'm not much of an over clocker so this temp. to voltage ratio throws me at a loss. Any suggestions?

CPU- INTEL E6550
MOBO- ASUS P5N32-SLI DELUXE

This problem just started out of the blue??? If it did, sounds like the thermal paste is failing. (that's if the HSF fan is still in good working order.)

yea its out of the blue, I'm gonna try replacing the thermal paste and swap out the power supply with one from another pc to see if that helps. any other suggestions if that doesnt work?

Do these problems happen the instant you turn on the computer? Or does it take time?

I'd be curious as to what power supply you're using... especially if the voltages are fluctuating that much. And can you tell if there is a hot spot around the processor, like does it feel like it's producing excessive heat?

Check your mobo to for the possibilty of a blown cap.

seriously? I bought it off someone here in the forums, so I don't think RMA would be easy at all.

1.6 Is super super high voltage, its like phase change voltage, its probably taking the life away of the chip.

Any way I could manually limit that? or could it be a PSU problem?

Set the bios vcore maybe? Im almost sure its the motherboard, but it wouldn't hurt to take out the volt meter and read the rails.

What kind of overclock are you running at 1.6 volts? Just lower the volts down.
If your not overclocking then set them at 1.35 volts. You should get a good
overclock at 1.4 to 1.45 volts which should run cool on air.

it's fluctuating between 1, and 1.6 all by its self!?!? that's a huge range.
checking the rails of your PSU might be good. check out the power section of the board for anything that looks strange, as best you can (I believe there're heat sinks covering up the voltage regulators). did you check for any blown capacitors?
there's probably not much you can do with your power supply to correct this. if Im not mistaken - and correct me if Im wrong - the voltage regulators or PWM modules on a motherboard regulate the voltage for your CPU and memory.

give the mobo a good looking over and a good sniff (yes a smell it) if you smell a bit of burning smell then look for a blown or unsoder capacitor its them black pop can looking things lol
check your voltage regulator as well if you know where it is

Is the board bios updated to the newest one? If that is an older version of that board and bios is not updated it may do that! That chip is not supported on that bored unless the bios is updated because of the 1333FSB! I have the same board and it is JUNK IMO! Mine under volts SOOO bad! I gotta set my Vcore to 1.48 to make it 1.38! LOL Took me a few days to find that out! BIOS UPDATE helped too!

I am interested to know what bios version you used to get your P532N to accept an E6550.....the Asus site does tell you at all under the compatibility listings.

Cheers,
Ben

Did you just install your processor? If you did double check the mounting bracket the stock Intel heatsinks are notorious for not sticking in the motherboard correctly.
