| I just got hooked up with at GA-7VRXP and after hooking everything up and the installation sweeping through, at the end the system finds an Unknown Device and wont find the drivers anywhere on the mobo CD or the Win98 CD. I also am without sound even though it looks like all the drivers are there... Does anyone know what this Unknown Device might be?¿? Specs: Athlon 1800+ 40GB Maxtor HDD 256 Corsair PC2700 Viper V770 Non-Ultra I spend all day helping people install hardware and Im stumped... | ||

| Hmmmm...not your sound? Is everything working properly them? It could also be an on board modem. I would remove the hardware from the device manager, restart and go into the BIOS, and ensure that that the AC '97 modem is disalbed, should be right next to the sound. Then on restart the comp shouldnt find any hardware. Its worth a try at least. | ||

| This is the first board I have had RAID and the U133 connections... Lookin in BIOS and turned off the RAID detecting it does at start up and not instead of popping up everytime I restart saying new hardware, it just sits there like a good little Unknown Device... All my drivers are up to date from VIA, Creative, nVidia, Promise, and all that... | ||

| You need to go into the BIOS and disable the Promise Raid. I had to do this on my board. And make sure you put the CD in in windows, and install the USB2 drivers. The usb2 ports will work as usb1 without the drivers btw. If that still doesn't help, maybe it's the onboard InfraRed controller? Or network if your not using it maybe.
