| I'd say most all canned air is about the same. I genrally buy whatever is on sale. If cleaning dont help , maybe look in your bios and see if a fan speed got reset somehow. Its also possible one of your fans that is hooked inot a sensor is dying. dont know if "Chip fan" means cpu fan or a different one | ||

| Normally the only time you'll see that is when your cpu fan is dieing or the bios got reset somehow as HTRN said. It could be a fan on the NB but I had the A8N-32 SLI Deluxe and it didn't have any fans on the mobo. Fan's are cheap, I would just replace the cpu fan and see if it fixes it. Better safe than sorry. | ||

| It's my chipset fan, do any of you all recommend a good one ? i just found out all that grinding noise was from the chipset fan itself.... i ran alot of tests on my hdd's they are in great shape its just that darn chipset fan. Thanks in advance | ||

| Hey top! Here's a link to remove that pos chipset fan and install a passive heatsink. I had one installed on my system for months before i went to watercooling. Worked like a charm. Newegg.com - ZALMAN ZM-NB47J Aluminum Heatsinks only - Retail Your system will run much quieter without that chipset fan. Trust me you'll notice..... | ||

| Also consider -Is it unusually cold in your room and -Is a smart-fan or thermally-activated fan setup being used to modulate fan speeds? Maybe it modulates all the way down below the minmum to be read for "live" | ||

| Thanks rockin male! man, your a life saver i will have to order this soon before chirstmas its very inexpensive too, will i have trouble taking the old one off? without ruining the MB? and one more thing will i have to buy better thermal grease, i know my Arctic silver 5 probably not anymore good i had it since 05. oh yeah i almost forgot one more thing, it sits up tall with it rub against my HDD Video card etc?? | Enzotech Low-profile northbridge cooler: LINK Vantec Iceberq Copper chipset fan: LINK The Zalman might fit, but it could be a tough squeeze. Removing and replacing the fan isn't difficult, just time consuming. You'll have to remove the motherboard, pinch the plastic hooks on the back that keep the old fan mounted down, apply a very light amount of Arctic Silver Ceramique, and mount the new fan. | ||

Hey thanks alot man, i will do some measurements on everything if i have a problem i will take a choice of those two chip set fans. umm..... what is the name of the stuff again that i use to clean the residue of thermal grease on the chipset when the fan is removed? thanks again

| Hey top! Sorry for the late re-post....... First off........Removing the old fan will be a little challenge. Since its really close to either a cap or coil. I ended up using a pair of cutters and cutting the plastic hooks off. So, i wouldnt take any chances in damaging the motherboard. Installation is pretty easy..... As for TM (thermal material) you can use the compound that zalman gives with the heatsink. It will work just fine and save you a few dollars. You dont wanna use artic silver 5 . Since its a conductive material, you dont want that going underneath where it could short out something.. Just give it a good cleaning with some q-tips and alcohol before you mount it. Walgreens sells 91%....Just an FYI As for whether it will fit....... It certainly was a close fit, if my memory serves me well, i dont think it touches the video card but its close. Then again i was using a 6800GT video card and a newer card may or may not work. Test fit first to be sure before you do it. I hope this helps out...... | ||

Do you know anyone that has this or if you have this chipset fan in time, does it get noisy ? i hope it doesn't look like it is better than the asus a8n-sli deluxe chipset fan. one more thing will i have to pick up thermal grease or does it include it in the packaging ? thanks in advance TVS
