Well, my sisters computer started bluescreening a while ago, so i decided before i replaced any hardware, i would try reinstalling windows. Well, that was a nogo. The original STOP code within windows was 0x50 (which i know 9 times out of 10 is the
ram going bad). So i go into windows xp setup and when i get to formatting the drive (mine goes directly to that because i set it up for unattended install) and it bluescreens to a 0x8E. Ive swapped
ram, tried a single stick in each
ram slot, nogo. Ive tried a different hdd controller on the motherboard, nogo. Ive tried debugging the harddrive (in DOS), nogo. I just want to make sure im not skipping anything before i replace the motherboard. If anyone has a Socket A motherboard for cheap (dont need anything special) i will buy it off of you. Thanks in advance guys.
**EDIT** the reason posting in the hardware section is.... well, im pretty sure its hardware ;-)
