warchild, a couple of tips:

Check out this thread on motherboard troubleshooting: HERE

Then check out this thread, on being a bit more specific, as your total hardware may be completely different (or the exact same) as someone else's here. Knowing what you have unde the hood can help us help you figue out what's wrong... HERE

Once you give us the specs on what you are running, as well as what all happens when you try topower on your machine, I'll be willing to bet that at least one other person here at PCA can give you the help you are looking for. Good luck!

JUst for the helluva it, my comp does that to and it's a new build but I had the PSU sleeved at teh factory and it will shut off on it's own sometimes and i figured out the problem, there is a faulty wire .
If I go in and shimmy the 24 pin connector then the comp will turn on again. PITA but I know that the heartless bastards over at Frozen CPU who have screwed me over before won't cop to it being their fault.

Hi there, would you happen to be in the 'warchild' clan who are currently raping the leaderboard in Company Of Heroes: Opposing Fronts? Bit of a long shot but thought id ask....

Sounds like a short, take everything outa the case and set up the bare minimum on a test bench (or desk...) and see if that makes a difference. This also lets you re-seat everything and make sure you haven't plugged anything in loosely.

Still no luck? Try parting out individual components until you have found the one causing the problem, if you can get hold of a spare PSU, RAM, CPU to borrow.

Another thing I've noticed that causes this.. is something is shorting out the motherboard. Check to see if there is anything metal underneath the motherboard, and also be sure you use those little standoff spacers on the motherboard screws as they can be the cause of it as well.
