Go buy an Athlon 64.

Prescott won't be out anytime soon. Not just heat problems, many others as well.

We actually have a front page article on the issues, and the timelines.

agreed, although the FX's 940 pin architecture will be removed from service come mid 2005 so if you like to keep yer mobo around go for the Athlon 64 and not the FX...

That is rather close minded of you, you could be missing out on a whole world of inovation and change. Even if you had a problem with a graphics card company that is no reason to hold it against AMD.

V4mpiro, you should've anticipated how stubborn intel users can be Once they go over to the dark side, they never come back

well as a diehard AMD follower......right now i have one hella pimp Intel box. sold the AMD to do it. Guess what i am happier because of it. it's faster, more stable, was actually cheaper to build, and just flat out RUNS......

Zenn, sounds like Direct Die might have some potential on this Barbaque

To answer your question CaseModder, the latest rumor is Prescott might be delayed until Q2 2004 at The Inquirer

All the rumors fly at that sight.. Just like the magazine on the newstands, they can be somewhat accurate at times..other times, well

Oct 10 this was posted, the latest Road Map for Intel I can find

Yea i heard about it a few days surfing around thanks though for helping me out everyone. The cpu is quite what i wanted but no fast enough as what intel wanted to launch it at. The upgrade is going very smoothly i just ordered brand new spankin promedia ultra speakers, intellimouse, keyboard, plextor dvd+rw 8x,coolermaster atc 111,550 watt psu, sound blaster 2 zs. The last to order will be cpu combo & graphics card I still havent picked between which massive sata i want yet its either maxtor 200 gigs, western digital 250 gigs or the new ibm 250 gigs. Got to wait for prices to fall since their very expensive
Till then later

Seems like a it was the other way around with intel fans saying amds got hot enough to barbeque with. I have both and have to say comparing a p4 to a xp system is no contest.

If i had the money i would go with the 64fx, just seems over kill right now.

Default Way Too Much Time

Ok I like discussing and comapring equipment but there seems to be a lot of flame wars over who has a bigger di... I mean faster CPU, lets face it its like comparing Ferrari to Lambourgini.

Lets lay out the facts
Yes for the money AMD Overclocks really well, even the new 64bits ones.
Prescott is gonna be hotter, so is the case when you use more electricity.
AMD is an UNDERDOG, lord knows well all love underdogs, I hope AMD takes off cause Intel is finnaly lowering prices.
Intel owns Content Creation so lets face most modelers will use them or (gulp) MACs, though AMD is catching up but this means alot of games are optimized for Intel, an exception UR2k3, 2k4 II Awakening

Personally I am so excited to see XMAS cause my bro's XP2800+ Bartty/MSI K7N2-Delta L is gonna be up and running, and OC'e (hopfully to 2.2-2.25) I want to see how this compares to mine.

~Bob soon to be a former AMD T-Bird 850 once OC'ed to 1GHz
