slow abit nf7-s startup

when the computer is first starting up sometimes it takes 20 seconds to detect the ide drives, plus 20 seconds after its detected them to actually boot, anything i can do about this?

abit nf7-s
amd 2500+
samsung 80 gig hdd
56x cd rom
normal flat ide cables
there both master , hdd into ide 1 cd in ide 2

Could be something to do with the power supply, is it a good name brand or Generic?
How about the CMOS battery? I think you can check that voltage with CPUZ or Motherboard Monitor.
Maybe it is in your Config of the drives, sounds like its re-detecting them each time you boot up. I would go check my Bios information on them.

Happend to me once... I un-hooked everything in the case and hooked it back up again and it fixed itself.

Well, at least it's booting up. My suggestion worked?

Anyway, that is lengthly, maybe an iffy ide cable. You might try swapping it out. Also disable anything you don't use in the BIOS. For instance, I have both onboard sound and firewire disabled on mine.
