Thumbs up Surprisingly Sweet Mobo For Cheap

Anybody else got one of these? I replaced my dead testbench mobo, a Soyo KT400 Platinum Ultra, with a Biostar M7NCG400.

This mobo is tiny, but still sports all these features:

Supported CPU: AMD Athlon, Athlon XP 200 / 266 / 333 / 400MHz front side bus
Chipset: NVIDIA nForce2 IGP / MCP
RAM: 3 x 184-pin DDR 200/266/333/400 (For dual channel 128-bit performance, at least 2 modules must be installed.)
IDE: 4 x EIDE devices Ultra DMA 33/66/100//133
Slots: 1 x AGP 8x, 3 x PCI, 1 x CNR
Ports: 1 x Parallel, 1 x Serial, 1 x VGA, 2 x PS/2, Gameport, Audio In/Out, 6 x USB 2.0, 1 x SPDIF, 1 x LAN
Onboard Video: GeForce 4 MX
Onboard Audio: Realtek ALC650 6-Channel AC'97 CODEC
Onboard LAN: MCP NVIDIA MAC + Realtek RTL

I paid $68 USD for this board which included shipping and a Black Newegg t-shirt. As far as overclocking goes, my XP 1700+ has been running comfortably at 2243 GHz on air without any tweaking at all.

I guess I'm just kind of amazed at how cheap technology is becoming. I thought it was a damn good deal.

Sweet find BA, I'm building a new rig, and that just might hit the spot.

Just looked on Newegg and they have it for 59.00 (refurbished) with free shipping. The pro model (refurbished) is 60 bucks free shipping.

I like the small form factor because it sits perfectly on my Senfu workstation. The Soyo board was a little too big for it.

I'll keep that in mind if I end up building a computer for somebody, definitely a nice possibility for a budget system when performance is a must. Biostar is really moving up in the ranks these days and will probably be up there with the big guns soon enough.

Yeah, It's a nforce2 board, so it supports dual channel. Like I said, not bad for so cheap.

I had a bad experience with a BioStar board, but that aside it does look good. Has/does anyone ever use the CNR slot for anything.....seems like a waste of space.

Nice find, BA
Is the workstation still available?
Does the mobo mount to standoffs or does it sit on a shelf?
I am building something simular, with acrylic, anything that you see that should be different?

Zen, I have it on a generic workstation. The only thing under it is foam rubber and an antistatic bag. If you want I can shoot you pics of the station, it would be VERY easy to duplicate.

HighspeedPc still sells the Senfu tech station. I think I may have to get a Aerocool Lubic Kit and make one. Kinda like an erector set for guys who have never grown up.

I purchase refurbished quite a bit. If there is going to be a problem, it generally will occur soon after you apply juice. Just make sure you check the vendor's policy first on refurbished items. I've seen vendors sell refurb "as-is", meaning no warranty. NewEgg treats refurbs like new.
