Default Dell 8200 Motherboard Replacement

My motherboard for my 8200 died out and i bought a new motherboard replacement off ebay but I have no idea as to how to replace it. I want to do it myself because I am that type of person so a guide or a manual would be excellent.

Your best bet is to take some detailed pictures, and label everything, you can even make a drawing of it.

I don't know of any specific dell guide, here is a general one.

Hardware - Motherboard Installation, Install a Motherboard

I would check to see if there is a owners manual for it, they might have some detailed pics with all the connectors.

Make sure you ground yourself frequently when handling hardware, just touch the metal part of a case, and it's best to have a well lit area and a big table, avoid doing it on carpeting, that is where you can build up a static discharge easily, wich can short the hardware if you touch it.

Since I am Dell certified in all areas (job requires it), I have access to the materials. I am assuming it is the dimension desktop. I have enclosed a pdf of the step by step directly from dell. The main trick to most of their systems is a release lever that holds it in place. If you need anything else PM me.

Thanks guys. The company I work for paid for the tests. They were a breeze. The hardest one was the server/raid exam. I have desktops, portables, servers, and printers.

If anyone needs any info or help with a dell just shoot me a pm.

Isn't the 8200 the one that had the MoBos die from blown caps that Dell extended the warranty on? I just had them replace an out of warranty mobo 6 months ago, think it was a Dimension 8200.

I have no idea. I see their parts fail all the time. We test their power supplies first, and 99% of the time the 12v only reads at around 11.4. To be honest with you, I would never buy a dell computer. The only reason I bought their lcd was because I get stuff for a very good price. Just one of the perks of being certified

That's pretty kewl Snowman!!!!!!!!!

Im also a dell certified technician, as well as a NCR/IBM retail technician.

I was thinking exactly the same thing you posted. To post the dell teardown guide for the unit.

Yeah, i know all about the exams ( my job requires me to take the exams as well)

Geez, some of the questions they asked......like what type of screw holds the mb in place.

Anyhow,
Just letting anyone else out there that needs help.....i can be a backup for snowman .

I need more info than just dell 8200. Tell me the what year it was manufactured and the model, and I can give you some detailed spec sheets

Well I figured out how to get to the systems board but I stripped the screw with my new 18 volt drill!

The screw that is right next to the memory on the Inspiron 8200 laptop.

I definitely wouldn't recommend using a drill to do a mobo swap!

Here is your spec sheet bro Let me know if you need anything else

Thanks!

I think I might need help trying to get this SOB stripped screw out!

I tried to take a drill bit and basically get the screw's head alone so I can try to get a grip on them but so far no luck! I also think I have seriously damaged the old motherboard by using the drill bit

Well the reason why I have to replace the motherboard is because my laptop no longer charges my battery or run on just the charger!

I have been told a new motherboard should fix that...

The motherboard arrived and I have installed it!

It has fixed my problems and everything but I still have ONE PROBLEM!

My built in wireless is not working despite the fact that I installed all the drivers on the DELL site that they had for the Dell 8200...
